raptor for its double duty
arc for that huge ammo reserve, and its charge even though it does eat ammo faster gives it a decent punch

Scorpion Pistol w/ Extended Barrel and Clip mods.
Tempest SMG w/ Extended Barrel and Clip mods.
This is my Loadout for my Vanguard Shep.

On the side in case ranged attacks must be used (damn Banshees...) is the ever-faithfull Carnifex, wit scope and barrel. Reasonable weight, dead accurate, good damage. The Talon is really fun to use, but just weights too much, and the Scorpion is innaccurate and slow past short-mid range.
Also, levelled Garrus with a Widow kicks serious ass. Sometimes one-shots Assault Troopers and Cannibals.

And Garrus with a Widow is fun to watch.

Usually Singularity + Warp for a big explosion and much laughter as bodies went flying. Or just plain Warp for armored targets.
The actual gun I used was usually either the Salarian pistol that fires the delayed explosive rounds (and serves as proximity mines if you shoot the scenery) that you get on Sur'kesh from Kirrahe (the same one he uses in the cutscene to shoot the Engineers with) or the Paladin heavy pistol when I was on a map that the proximity mine effect would not work well on.
Tried the SMGs out but I didn't like any of the SMGs this time around. The one from Kasumi's DLC loyalty mission in ME2 was my go-to weapon there but in ME3 all the SMGs felt like they didn't do very much damage-per-clip or had too much recoil when being fired.
Didn't bother using any other weapons as an Adept during the SP campaign.

I know how you feel...I used the N7 Hurricane and an Avenger early on (194% recharge speed at first, then 200%) I later switched my Avenger for a Mattock since I needed more power at range (184% recharge speed this time.) But the Hurricane still isn't as good as the Locust SMG as the Hurricane's recoil is a bit too much at times (got to shoot in shorter bursts than the locust.)

All the N7 weapons are amazing, and for once in a game I think the extra guns (being the N7 weapons) are actually the best weapons i the game.
I only spent time with the SMG so far, since I'm playing as an adept right now. Tested the sniper in the practice range and it does have potential to be a rather powerful go to sniper rifle.

I use the Mattock a lot in MP and love it. Should see if in NG+ the Mattock at rank X gets light enough to allow 200% recharge. If so, I might switch up to just using it instead of just using a pistol.

I think I had it at about 180% at level V. But then I also only had a pistol with me and the lightest one possible. I love the Mattock. I am also starting to love the N7 SMG, Hurricane. Put a scope on it and that gun is sweet. Used it the entire run with my engineer.Khar-Goth wrote...

Just unlocked Rev and it was pretty awesome on the Cerberus Citadel fight, but not sure whether it is better than the Phaeston, when I can land more rounds on target with the latter. Anyone know whether squadmates make proper use of these light MG syle weapons?
Not tried out the Chakram launcher myself yet (trying to find a mission suitable for a test), but probably will do. Particle rifle I'm avoiding, though Javik has been a constant companion and is awesome with it (I swear he took out an Atlas mech on his own with it)
