I just recently finished the single player campaign of Mass Effect 3 myself.  The whole way through, I couldn't help but reflect on just how awesome the game was.  I couldn't wait to get to all the way through!  Every encounter was more epic than the last, from the very beginning with the Reaper Invasion, the invasion of the Turian Homeworld, the Krogan and the Genophage, and the Quarians and the Geth, everything in this game was freaking amazing.  I found the writing to be superb, I laughed out loud several times, and even cried when one character died in the hospital.  Everything I wanted out of the finale I got.  And the romance with Tali was great.  I was truly satisfied, and was convinced that this was the best Mass Effect yet, nay, the be3st game of all time!  I couldn't wait to get to the end so I could start a whole Marathon of a playthrough through the entire series!

And then....the ending happened.  Ouch.

I know, I know, that's all that people have been talking about lately.  Most people seem to be extremely upset about it, and I think rightfully so.  I won't get into the all the reasons here, as I think others have stated them far better than I, but ultimately I think the best reason is that it simply doesn't fit the overall Mass Effect experience.  But regardless, I have something else to add.

Now, bear in mind that this is just a theory and carries no real facts to support it.  So many people are wondering how Bioware could come so far, tell such an amazing story, and then trip at the end.  My answer is....maybe they didn't.  At least, they didn't trip.  Maybe they fell on purpose.

Stay with me now.  What if they INTENTIONALLY made an ending that they knew that very few would be happy with?  Think about it.  How many of us would be willing to spend an extra ten bucks to get that perfect ending we always wanted, we always knew we'd get with the grand finale?  Maybe we get to see Shepard and Tali build a home on Rannoch.  Maybe he and Liara have children together.  Maybe he makes the ultimate sacrifice for the team.  We get to see what happens in the aftermath, as his friends and associates recover, as each of the races rebuild from the ashes.  Or maybe you wanted a more renegade option, where Shepard uses the reapers to conquer the Galaxy.  I dunno.  Anyways, that's not what we got.

My point is, I'm beginning to suspect more and more that maybe they knew this ending wasn't very good.  Many have stated that it feels rushed and hastily thrown together.  Others have pointed out all sorts of flaws and plot contradictions.  I believe I've heard certain employees from Bioware themselves say things like "Don't get rid of the game, you don't know what's coming."  This all seems to indicate to me that they're fully aware of the flaws of the ending.  But they're also even more fully aware of many fans sheer devotion to the series, and how many of us are willing to pay for it.

It's also evident that the ending CAN be fixed.  Just look around the forums for various suggestions.  Many of them even have ways that work around what's already there.  Though I suspect Bioware already has plan.

I have to be honest.  If Bioware were to come out and say "Hey, new better endings coming out next week for ten bucks," I'd buy it.  I'd know that it's wrong.  I'd know that I'm being exploited.  But I have to have that ending.  And in conclusion, all I can say is, Bioware or EA, if you're listening and this was intentional, I applaud the deviousness of your scheme.  How fiendishly clever of you!  I can't condone it, but man is it going to work, at least short term, at least on me.  I won't be able to resist.  If it wasn't intentional, well....you've still got an opportunity here.

Anyone else have any thoughts?  If you agree or disagree with this, please, express yourself.  If you have any evidence or thoughts one way or the other, feel free to share.  I just had to share my thoughts on this somehow.  Again, I'm not saying this as fact.  It's merely what I see as the most likely possibility at the moment, all things considered.  And to be honest, it gives me hope that we probably will see a more fleshed out ending.  Probably fairly soon, too.  We just might end up paying for it.

The sad truth is that the endings are bad but they are the real endings. There is no plot to make "new ending" DLC.

While this is quite possibly true, there is simply no way to be certain.
If they didn't plan it ahead of time, watching these forums must be making some cogs spin. The sheer dedication and love for this series is too strong for most of us; we're already indoctrinated by BioWare. A good portion of us will accept the idea of a DLC that we have to pay for, simply to see an ending that should have been there from the start.

The sad truth is: that while this may not happen for sure, a majority of the fanbase will succumb to it if it does. Myself included.
