I can't imagine playing the game again until they fix it though..

I also admit that I doubt they'll fix it.

Of course they won't fix it, with as many people they have on the forums complaining about the ending, you shoudl read the twitter fead, there are people who, like me, are praising it all over the place. But really what game company ever fixed the ending people didn't like? None to date.

Bethesda did.
And i don't get why would you "praise" it. The endings suck. Dark or not. They don't make any sense.

If only Command Shepard had some way of healing himself or Anderson, for example.

I'm on my second play through wondering why i can't upgrade my guns past 5 like they said i could.... do you have to reload an ME3 game save for that?? If so, that's retarded... I don't like playng maxed out charaters, i like the leveling process, and having a different love intrest.....

Oh, the ending?  Bah.  I just ignore the ending and pretent it never happened.  The denial is strong in this one...  The rest of the game was really fun. *shrug*

I'm fine now. Got all of my spring cleaning done after I finished the game on the 8th. I hope that all of this gets straightened out.

The hardest part for me was beating the game on the morning of the 9th before all of my friends, and having nobody to talk to about the endings. I had to sit and listen to them rave excitedly about how awesome the game was, without any way to prepare them for the disappointment around the corner. I was sad about what happened and had no close friends to share my feelings with. My main concern now is that I bought ME3 for my brother's birthday (he was the one that got me into the franchise in the first place), and I'm afraid that it's going to turn out to be a horrible present.

Now that most of my friends have beaten the game and shared in their frustrations, it's a lot easier to cope. I'm certainly in a much better place than I was a couple days ago!

Im beginning to eter the denial stage now, going to just invent an ending in my head an run with that. That isnt anymore nonsensical than bioware's dumb ending.

I have to say, the ending actually made me cry, something that I never thought a video game ending could do. And it wasn't becouse the ending was sad or emotinal, it was the feeling having been betrayed by the creators of the game, ruining what should have been grand emotional ending to a great game trilogy with something that doesn't make any sense what so ever lorewise and looks and feels like it was slapped together at the last minute:
"Guys we need to get the game to printing by next monday and you still haven't done anything about the end of the game, use what ever material you have ready and slap it together."

Feeling really depressed about this, and just thinking about the game gets tears to my eyes. I got so emotinally attached to the story and the characters, only to get slapped in the face with 3 endings, all which result in the destruction the of society that we spent the 3 games fighting for. Not to mention the Normandy scene, that didn't make the slightest bit of sense, why was the Normandy in the middle of a mass relay jump when it should have been in the battle and how/why did my squad members get on to the Normandy when they had minutes earlier been down in London.

I know how it ends even though I haven't beaten it yet, and I'm constantly viewing these forums, hoping to see a Bioware response, but I realize that won't happen yet since the game isn't even out in all regions (Japan I think), and dev teams usually go on vacation for a week when a game releases.

When i first started playing, i thought to myself "This game is great, the ending can't possibly be as bad as people keep telling me."

I was wrong..

Never in my entire life have i been this emotionally upset and depressed by a game.
I'm in a state of shock, i cannot fathom how they could decide to end it like this, its unreal..

I can't even get myself to boot up the game again, every last shred of enjoyment i got has been ruined by this "experience"..

Quite frankly, you guys messed up.. Badly.

I'm still in mad denial. I refuse to believe that this is how the game ends. I get bouts of depression and anger as well... It's been kind of like the five stages of grief, except I can't see myself accepting this ending. I just can't. The closest I'll most likely get to acceptance is to accept that the game is forever FUBAR'd. If that's the case, I might as well not even play through with my other Shepards.

I'm resigned.

If BW really intended for that to be the ending, I don't think we're going to get a new one, and if they didn't, then the fact that I've felt pissed off since Thursday is because they pulled a cheap stunt to sell DLC and they had no intention of selling me a complete ME3 on the release date. I also feel like an idiot for just trusting that BW would give me a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy, and not waiting a few weeks after the release date and checking youtube for the endings before deciding to buy.

I'm surprisingly bad. It's just a game after all, but it turns out it was much more engaging than I'd expect. I'm almost depressed and can't stop thinking about how betrayed I feel.

If ending was bleak or underwhelming (kinda like silly human-reaper arcade boss in ME2 was) I'd say - well 95% of game was awesome, screw this. But this ending actually managed to screw up whole past experience. It literally made three previous games with all those choices and effort pointless. It took away all those great things. And that's just devastating. Even if it's "just a game".

I think the hell of it is, there's really nothing to replace Mass Effect for me.  I read comicbooks, and series are always in flux; they end or get cancelled, creative teams come & go and the quality changes from one volume to the next.  When that happens, I just find a new title to take its place.  Stopped reading The Walking Dead, picked up Locke & Key instead.  When Marvel cancelled She Hulk, started reading Power Girl.  Didn't like the last volume of Hellboy, started reading Atomic Robo.  There's always something fun to read.

But no other developer makes games like Bioware, and there's nothing quite like Mass Effect.  Goodness knows I'll probably still buy their next game (albeit grudgingly) and would pay for a post-game ME3 dlc.

The ending did make me want to get back into reading science fiction novels again, since that's probably the closest I'll get to recapturing that feeling again.  So if this was all a diabolical scheme to make your fans read more books, then mission accomplished, I suppose.

I had no problems with the endings. Yes they came out of no where but they felt no different to me than any other ending Bioware has done.

I don't know maybe they were just hyped as sooo horrible that when I reached them they were no where near the hype they were receiving.

I'm still perfectly fine with the endings. I love the whole sacrifices being made for the greater good aspect in most cases, I can sympathize with the people who don't like it however and I'm sorry that you don't. I still however praise Bioware for the boldness of it, I think they went into this ending expecting this kind of reaction from people though as they even mentioned several times that not everyone is going to like the ending.

Machines coming to kill organics so that they dont go to war with machines?  What?
Normandy fleeing for no reason in the middle of a giant battle to save their home planet and the universe?  What?
Party members that were charging the beam with me are on the normandy now?  Did someone just swoop in 100 yards infront of harbinger and carry them out without getting blown to hell?  Ya right.
Mass relays getting destroyed from a blue beam designed to control the reapers?  What?
Mass relays getting destroyed at all.
Instantly turn the universe into half man, half robot?  What?

Im to lazy to type out anymore but ya.  Unless someone is 9 years old and partially brain dead, I dont see how they can possibly appreciate this ending.

Hell an ending where you get completely destroyed and only find a sure way to warn the next cycle would be 5000x times better than this, and thats about the worst ending you could possibly have.  It would at least make sense.

Boldness isn't the problem.  Absolute sloppyness and awfulness is.

There is no reason for you to harass me just because you don't agree with me. I haven't insulted anyone else who disagrees. The Normandy is running away in each instance because the beam that flies out is after them if you pay attention.

Now, I agree to disagree here but I will refrain from insulting anyone.

....you really think it's bold? I'm not trying to be rude but did you play the ME1 and 2 games? All they did was rip off a mix of Deus Ex and Matrix Revolutions and throw into Mass Effect with no warning right at the very end. Everything you thought the game was about gets a giant dump taken on it for a cliche, shallow ending with little to no thought. Cookie cutter endings with 0 real variety like ME2 had.

I dunno, I just don't see where the boldness comes from... it looked sloppy and rushed to me.

The synergy thing is a repeating theme yes, but its not a rip off its been happening in science fiction for decades, Matrix and deus ex definitely were not the first sci fi IP's to touch on the topic. And yes I've played through both ME 1 and 2 six times and have six characters to import, and yes I still love the bold and mysterious ending that is bittersweet and one of those 'greater good' sort of deals, does that mean everyone should agree with me? No everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just see it differently and actually like it, I do understand your arguments however. But do not treat me as if I don't know what I'm talking about. As I have not insulted anyone else's intelligence here.

While I do think the ending could have benefited by slowing down a bit (and having a bit more of an epilogue), having some time to reflect and replay, I've come to like it.

I know that puts me in a minority (in this thread at least), and I certainly don't begrudge anyone their feelings on it. ME has always had a Michael Bay ending to their games and this one broke from that mold. A part of me wanted something epically visual, but i'm ok with how it played out.

Course, multiplayer will not make it near impossible for me to see the ending I want to see without waiting another 30 days...

I put the games on the shelf, not sure I'll ever play them again. I was playing SWTOR daily up till I switched to ME3, but haven't even fired that up, or opened my copy of AC:R that I was looking forward to playing.

I'm sure I'll start playing something again soon, but just not yet.

I'm fine with it... the hint was dropped by the prothean VI that something else was at work so it wasn't a big surprise for me to see what the catalyst was. The problem he faced is one that is talked about constantly by the reapers. It doesn't invalidate anything else that happened in the game... you spent the entire series fighting against the reapers and their form of "order" ... why do you suddenly feel bad about it now?

Would have liked to found out about catalyst origins and what other solutions he had tried but then again I'm as bad as Liara when it comes to wanting to find out about things.
