Anyone think killing Harbringer should have been the last Boss fight?

Totally from a gameplay point of view and ignoring the Ending fiasco.  There were some great battles in this game.  But just having waves and waves of enemies is kinda anticlimatic for the last level.  I was hoping we could some how take down Harbringer as the last boss.  Anyone else wish we could have killed Harbringer as like the final boss?

I was thinking it could have been set up like the Rannoch reaper fight.  This time you have a ton of your war assets attached to the targeting lazer and you have to deal with adds.  Would have been cool for the Normandy to take the final kill shot too.

Yes, I so wanted to say, "This hurts you" as I gave Harby the death blow.

I would have really liked that. I'd been hoping we'd get to board a Reaper in the game. It would have been nice to fight Harbinger from the inside.

He sorta was... you just lost and he left you for dead when you weren't.

I would have loved to have Harbinger as the Final Boss since he is the main baddy in the series (though you do not meet him in ME 1).  I guess they did not add a final boss since the one in ME 2 was not well received .

Honestly, it felt like he was. That whole end sequence felt like an indoctrination attempt.

Sorry I guess I meant more shouldn't killing him have been the last gameplay boss fight? Not if he was or not cause he was obviously there at the end.

he magiclly disapeared after you woke up charred -_-
how in the blue hell does a Reaper that size just magiclly disappear, hence i support the whole it was a dream/indoctrination attempt

I can't believe that the ending was real. The consequences of sending the entire galaxy back to the stone age, Tali not being able to reach the home I just claimed for her, and the Normandy stranded on a random planet for all of eternity... it's too much to comprehend.

Another thing is, why the heck did the Reapers let Shepard go? I mean, they would have known he made it past the beam right? I would have assumed that right before Shepard makes his big play 10 or so Reapers would have shown up and blown him up.

The ending is too messed up to think about really. I gave up looking for anykind of logic. It is all based on '' Galaxy is screwed. Pick your death'' ... It is such a shameful ending to a great game and franchise.

I really wanted to actually ''reason'' with the Reapers but in the end a God-child comes , tells you Reapers are ''good'' and you are looking back to all 3 games and say '' THEN WHY THE F**K I SPEND PROTECTING THE GALAXY ? '' We at least deserved that much to shoot Harbinger in his mechanical face.... possibly with Prothen Companion...

But noo.. you run in, he shoots a big laser...boom 2 of your accompanying companions are dead, you are half dead and he flies away.... WOW SUCH A GRANDE FIGHT ! *sarcasm*

I honestly thought the final battle was going to be a battle of wits against Harbinger.  Sooo disappointed, also.

Welcome to reality. **** ain't pretty.

Reapers told you again and again they are order, you are chaos. It never seems like the ones trying to kill you are really the "good guys".

TBH my expectation was for earth along with the mass relays to be destroyed... close enough I guess :P

Harbringer would have been a good boss, I was irritated I didn't even get to speak to him/hear him saying anything after ME2. However, judging by the art book, they did well to avoid a final boss. We were originally meant to be fighting a reaperized Illusive man in the final battle. The fact the art book has him looking like a brute, suggests that the ending could indeed have been even worse if they'd stuck with that!

Err... no he doesn't 'magically disappear', if you paid attention to the screen, you see him take off just as the camera pans down to Shepard just after the female soldier over the radio asks if anyone got to the beam

^ That could be any reaper, how do you know it's Harbinger?

OP: Definitely not. Shepard may be a badass cyborg, but there's no way he/she could beat old Harby without yet another trick (target painting, setting up missilies, luring a thresher maw). It had been done enough by the end of the game, and something new was required.

Considering right at the end just before you go off on the last bit they say Harbinger was showing up it seemed likely.  I was a bit surprised as well that he only his name was mentioned a couple of times throughout the game.  Considering as big a pain in the backside as he was in ME2 anyway.

The multiple yellow 'eye' sets. Its Harbinger's signature. The other Reapers (such as Sovereign) do not look like that.

He does the yellow eyes thing he always did in ME2.   It's a lil bonus for paying attention.

its a good idea thats for sure. heck the art book that came with the collectors edition talks of a final battle with the illusive man being either turned into a reaper monster of some type.

i keep thinking that might of been interesting. fighting the illusive man as harbingers avatar with a time limit to reach the button to open the citadel. but no they decided to be arty and edgy
