Does anyone at all like the endings?

But I don't believe I've ever seen this many people rage about an ending of a game before. That has me a bit worried, as the hate for endings seems nearly universal.

At the same time, I'm hesitant on continuing the story until I can be sure that BioWare has addressed the problem with some sort of statement. Until then, I'm doing multiplayer with nibbles of single player once I reach 100% galatic readiness.

I haven't gotten there yet, so I'm not looking for details.

Some longtime fans did, most hated it.
Newcomer reactions probably range from bemused to mildly upset. Not won over by any stretch.

To each his own, I guess.

The first part was good. Complete unknown what was happening. However...the finale parts involving the final choice is where things...get muddy. Things weren't explained and the things that were explained weren't...making much sense.
After that, when the choice is made, I have no problem....until after the credits. The scene simply didn't say Mass Effect to me. It should have ended the way it began. The scene maybe pretty but it simply wasn't ME.

I'm wondering if some sort of "ANN News Report" could be released about that.... >_>Dark Eff3ct wrote...
I liked the ending... sort of, I just don't think the vary ending (after credits) was good at all and REFUSE to accept it... and I sort of want an explanation or some type of DLC to tell me what happens to the characters that I have learn to love...
Maybe do it "Halo: Legends" style and make a short film?
If enough flak comes from both core gamers AND mainstream gamers, BioWare (and by extension EA) will need to do some damage control to prevent the franchise from getting too much of a bad name.

- Your choices do not matter at all
- Lack of variation
- Unrealistic and illogical
- Sad, depressive and bleak
- Loose and open-ended, no closure
- It does not suggest any replay value

Game let me do everything I wanted. Endings are not super exciting, but I don't have the problems with them that most people do.
exactly what i was thinking, i mean yea the ending coulve been done alot better but if you listen to the guys on here you wouldve thought that Shepard found out the Illusive man was his dad and that he was really a Reaper sleeper agent or something outta left field

No one has a clue what happens to any of the characters, shepard, or the ME universe as a whole. They all just guess and form conjectures. Not really an ending.
I get what they were trying to do, but they could have put in a small paragraph for an epilogue after the credits. It was far too short to finish a trilogy that way.

Jason above and I seem to agree, though we use different wording.
The Violation of the writer-reader contract is why this ending is wrong for mass effect 3: not a bad ending, a wrong one. If you look at the linked page, Bioware violated points 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. To make matters worse, this isn't even an exhaustive list: look below, and you'll realize there's many more obligations for Bioware in this case since this is the third part of a trilogy.
This is why people are so furious about the last 10 minutes of a 30 hour game. It's not bad writing that's the issue; it's bad storytelling. A much worse offense in this case.
