The ending explained

Perhaps if Bioware alone had control of who knew before it was released, but Microsoft has a full hands on testing policy before they are willing to put DLC out for download. Once you get that many people with the information, leaks begin to occur and would have, I'm sure, by now. Somebody would want to feed their ego with the attention they know they would get from the leak.
Some part of me hopes the OP is correct and the jokes on us, as it would make playing the game again bearable, but I won't be holding my breath waiting for the great reveal.

The theory itself is sound, but I don't think there will be ending DLC. Anyone else try loading your final save game? You appear back on the Normandy before the final mission. The ending is not going to change. They put you in a position before the game ends so you can do other missions, like saving Thessia so you can blow it up with the Relays later no matter what you decide to do.
Sorry if I seem pessimistic about this, but... well. The evidence doesn't look good.
I'm sorry but you are wrong. Yes you appear before final mission but you can't do any other missions. All clusters are blocked.

As for your evidence, I actually didn't notice them when I played. I made it to the beam with 7 shots from the pistol. I didn't think anything of it until I realized that an unmodified Carnifex holds only 6 rounds. I didn't try to shot the keepers. The Citadel holds a lot of secrets that no contemporary species know about. Shepard could easily be at a part of the station that no one has ever seen, a part that moves so Anderson got in from a different chamber. The boy was simply a very poor choice for the Catalyst to use as its holographic form, but unsurprising given Shepard's dreams. He's on Shepard's mind. You may think he's God-like; I don't. Then he proceeds to make three essentially identical choices and dies. There is no question that he dies in all three scenarios.
There is no real evidence that it happened in Shepard's head, except the infinite ammo without reloading. It's possible. I could be imagining that I am writing this post just as you could only be imagining reading it. I tend to agree with others who just think it's a really poor ending.

I have not seen any evidence that indoctrination creates hallucinations. My understanding is that it induces a high level of stress to wear down the mental acuity of the subject and then very subtly misdirect the subject's existing thoughts to suit Reaper goals. Although I think it makes no sense for the ending to be a hallucination, it is possible that it all happened in Shepard head. He could be unconscious on the battlefield, in a coma, or even dead. The Reapers could have captured him and screwing with his head. It's all possible.

just go to the forum page and look at the thread "was the ending a hallucination?" too tired of listing numerous evidences

Shepard lives in the destruction ending if your EMS is high enough...

1) Before the game was released bioware has stated that there will be a wide array of endings with different outcomes that wont dissapoint. These statements were made when the game was near ready. I see allot of anger on the forums that bioware blatently lied to us. Or maybe they werent lying?
2) The aftermath, Nobody at Bioware is answering. Why would you do that with such an angry fanbase? The only reason I can think of is NDA. People know something they cant tell. If you know the ending will still be patched/dlc into the game but your not allowed to tell, how do you respond to the mass of angry fans? The answer is, not. You just keep your mouth shut, wait for global release of the game and wait for the ending to be revealed.
3) People say it would be retarded to have the ending of a game released later as DLC, we have paid for the full game. We cant imagine Bioware would do this stunt and if they did, it would be outrages. Newsflash: they already pulled this stunt. From Ashes DLC contained some integral story parts. It was included as paid DLC from day one. Bioware/EA released the game partially, and if you want the full game, you got to pay extra for the DLC. So yes, they can pull this stunt, and already have. Why wouldnt they do it for the ending aswell?

2) No one is answering because they will get fired if they do. Big wigs are having meetings.

Shipping: We're sorry; this item can not be shipped outside Japan
ASIN: B005LM0SDG
Release Date: 2012/3/15
It's from amazon.co.jp for Mass Effect 3.
Perhaps they didn't want the end to be released until everyone had a chance to play that far, to avoid spoilers for the people in the east?
Also, we have this:
Michael Gamble @GambleMike 9 March
Hardest. Day. Ever. Seriously, if you people knew all the stuff we are planning...you'd, we'll - hold onto your copy of me3 forever.
Ad it with OP's theory. Perhaps the ending will be downloadable soon?

Did anyone else feel there was a lot of Kurzweil in this altogether-even the whole series?

Was the guy on the planet at the end Joker? Was the kid the new reaper?
Looking forward to a proper explanation but I sense a Battlestar Galactica ending here:)

If Hallucination/Indoctrination were true then the conclusion has no closure. We really do NOT know what happened except to assume the Reaper's won...but we really don't know.
Without the Hallucination/Indoctrination theory then the ending is so riddled with problems as to qualify it for nonsense.
So my HOPE was that DLC was coming and the Hallucination/Indoctrination theory was correct.
But when they lowered the price of ME3 that was when I lost hope. There is no way they would lose money just to keep their secret.

If we chose the only viable option, the option you have been working for since ME1 which is destruction. After all that IS the only thing you have been working for no? Then the reaper are gone and you wake up alive. So they left it open.
The other 2 options are not supposed to be options, Saren wanted merger and Illusive Man wanted control. Both options were chosen before and the people were indocrinated so it makes sense.
