I am kind of confused why people hated the ending so much? Life isn't always a sweet rose or a box of chocolates. Mass Effect has all was dealt with the 'harsh' nature of reality. The fact that a sacrifice was necessary doesn't seem odd to me.
Also, this opens up the series for continuation, with throw back references to the 'ancient days' (this case referring to the time period of the events of ME1-3) when the way the species of the universe forever changed!
Think about the reports you get in regards to how you united the galaxy (assuming you weren't a complete jerk). You would read messages and reports of species helping each other out, imagine systems without the ME Relays, with mixes of different alien races being left on them. How do the develop together now? Do the Krogan play nice on the planets that they are stranded on? Do the species create camps and war against each other or unify? There is a lot of room, in my humble opinion.
In other word, you are happy to have this series trashed because you will pay to get something in the future that will have absolutly nothing to do with the present series but some random quote from the past?
Yeah you are right. I mean, it is impossible to have an "ending" that doesn't defy the logic of the past 2 games, doesn't put random things going on (hello normandy) and that is actually influenced by our choice throught the game. Not when a company decide to milk a series to the maximum and start pumping them games!
Right?
Also, I'm not playing games to have another life. Are you? But since you start with that line of argument... life might not be perfect, but you can work (and should) to change it, improve it and your action will influence it... One way or the other...
Hey, that sounds familiar with what Bioware was saying about one of their game... Wonder which one now since the last game wasn't influence in any way. I could blaze throught the entire game and still be stuck with the copy/paste Deus Ex 1 ending.
