either they are lying to me (which they  might actually) or my gamestop has not yet received ANY copies of DAO yet

I swear to god  I wonder why I even bother preordering there, nearly every major release is plagued by delays because "well, you know they slip dates sometimes".

it happened with GoW...GoW2, dead space and resident evil 5....

why is gamestop so freaking unreliable? and why is it that I have the funny feeling me and several other unlucky customers will have to wait till Wednesday  to play?

why would I? the guy flat out told me "it's not here yet, call back tomorrow after 11 before you come pick it up".... and it's not like other big titles have not shared the same fate...how do you know it is there already with that much certainty (without even know which gamestop I am talking about)?

It's gamestop man, they don't know anything about video games, unless you happen to be lucky enough to have a clerk who's actually interested in the game you're talking about.

I have never bought a new game on gamestop (spar BG2 collection when my CD broke).

I wouldn't get worried. The game doesn't release until tomorrow. 'Tomorrow'. Being pissed that they don't have a game that you can't have anyways won't help matters. My Gamestop told me they don't have it in stock today, but they are getting their shipment in early tomorrow before it opens. Fine with me, since I wasn't going to have it until the release date anyhow. If they don't have your game tomorrow, 'then' I would get unhappy, not before.

The Ineptitude of the GameStop near my house is the main reason why I use steam now.

Depends on the individual store, its not like the company as a whole is trying to screw you over. It is, of course, their fault for hiring 'corrupt' people though.



Ive never had any problems(nor any of my friends who use the same store) at my local one after 20+ preorders(collectors and non).

I've never had problems with Gamestop myself. Maybe it's an issue with the store that you buy at (or maybe I'm just charmed with luck...)



What sort of area do you live in? That might affect store availability.

great now I got a call from GS corporate saying the game SHOULD be arriving tomorrow in the afternoon

What they said to me was, you can pick it up on Tuesday morning. If they don't have it, and they told you they would have it, get your money back and go elsewhere.

Wow.... maybe I'm one of the lucky few, but I never really had a problem with gamestop



There's one directly across from the food court in my favorite mall, and its always had games that I've wanted



There's also one right across the street to, I never had issues with....



But, my luck will probably run out eventually...

I actually played DoA at my local gamestop today on their demo PS3 they have out, so they have it.

 I just purchased my copy on Direct2Drive.com, downloading right now.  We'll see what happens after the download is complete.  I am going to go ahead and start installing.  Can't wait!

I've been lied to from GameStop before. I've seen lots of people denied their Collector's Editions for various games they'd pre-ordered, simply because they didn't get there fast enough and the clerks just handed them all out already.

I started boycotting that place a while ago. Their service is the pits, and for only having one single product to sell, they do a really awful job of keeping stock of it.

I've got a good relationship with the reps at a GameStop 25 minutes away. I pass three GS's on the way there! They said they got the games over the weekend and are selling them tomorrow per street date (as expected). I only called to see if they were doing a midnight release, but since they weren't I was able to ask a few questions. As far as he understood, most gamestops already have copies of the games, but just tell people they don't because of all the calls coming in.

Newegg. They've yet to fail me, and I doubt they will soon. However, more on-topic in regards to GameStop... I've long since stopped doing business with them due to their own idiocy (nothing like calling the location, checking if they have a game, reserving said game, driving 30 minutes to get to the store, and finding out they've been sold out for two weeks), and the three locations in my city are the only game stores "worth" going to, so the entirety of my game shopping is done with either Newegg or Amazon.



However, I hope you have luck in getting your copy tomorrow.

Really?

They had Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend going over the last few weeks.

Then again, my local gamestop is kind of awesome, as they just ask "What do you want to see on the demo machines?" and you just write the game down and a few days later it's usually up and running.
