Become a bloodmage? Like a real one? And how far would the story progress before you were hunted down by all the templars..lol
I have gotten two bloodmage skills, but I don't think that makes me a real bloodmage though.
Has anyone ever attempted to ....

For some reason my blood isn't magical. Oh well, at least the Templars won't come after me since the church had them all killed.
In all seriousness though I just finally unlocked the skill and am planning on seeing where the tree goes because mages by default are really powerful. I also have the two blood magic-esque skills you get from Avernus's experiment (one you sacrifice health to replenish mana)

I made Wynne a blood mage, no problems thus far.

If you check the forums (I know the search feature blows), you'd read that it has absolutely no impact whatsoever on the game except in one specific spot. I could be wrong, I've never tried it myself, but if you are already a blood mage, and then tell Wynne after or maybe during the Broken Circle quest line, she will supposedly attack you.
Other than that, which I've only heard about, it makes no difference at all, you cannot affect the story plot in some different way, you are not hunted at all, and as far as I know it is never ever mentioned by anyone. You can train both Wynne and Morrigan in it, but it's no different than if you used another spec.

Yeah I had hoped your specializations would have an impact on the game world in terms of lore and interactions.

I must admit that having the ability of turning Wynne into a Blood Mage makes me sad.

Can someone let me know how you become a blood mage. I thought I knew but I can't seem to unlock it I just don't get the option.

Yes, I didn't think you could do that.
Hoped that:
Oghren and Sten couldn't become templars, due to no belief in maker
Morrigan not being able to become Spirit healer, she is not a noble spirit
Wynne not becoming blood mage, so out of character
Alastair not becoming reaver, just seems out of character.

1: Your PC must be a Mage.
2: Your PC enters the Fade to "save" Conner either by blood rite (Jowan) or Circle Rite (Irving)
3: You make the deal with the Desire demon possessing Conner.

I attempt it a lot.
My success rate is however awfully low.

Tried it. Once. In the middle of the most harsh winter I remember. Bad memories...
