I find it funny that after the credits no matter the ending, the guys all, "Well, some details about Shepard were lost over time."
Guess they never used that machine then to keep things straight, amirite?

You know... that machine that held all of the information about Shepard in it? That would let others activate it and learn everything about you and what you did? (At least for me, I told her to load it with the good and bad about me. The truth.)

Well they did but they're so inbred by that point that they can't read.

Hah yes we can definitely count on some valleys in the genetic record post ME3. A lot more valley than peak.
Thankfully Mordin was already dead or we'd never hear the end of it.

I actually thought that machine was a Chekov's Gun, and that it was a hint that we were going to get a "Captain America" ending in which Shepard wakes up several centuries later. The lead-in would be Liara's voice providing the device's description of Shepard.
Silly me...
What's funny is if Shepard woke up several centuries later, Liara would still be alive and well age wise. XD

Yup. I don't remember exactly how long Asari live, but iirc she's got at least another 900 years left in her.
The funny thing is, I've got a an entire end sequence all story-boarded out in my head that uses the device and uses the ME1 love interest - the latter a result of Bioware's comments regarding the "bonus" if you remained faithful to your ME1 LI in ME2. The finale of the whole thing would be Liara's voice-over from the device as a lone cryo pod found floating in space was brought to rest on a hanger floor... and the contents revealed to contain Shepard and the ME1 LI, which could be Liara (Ash in my case).
(Shepard would be alone if he didn't have an ME1 LI or didn't remain faithful)
Doesn't work out quite as well for other LIs, though, in part because only the ME1 LIs can give you a properly emotional "I left you behind the last time, and I'm not going to do it again!" speech (a reference to the ME2 prologue which has Shepard ordering his LI - or Liara if he didn't have one - to lead the crew off of the stricken Normandy while he retrieves Joker). The mentally storyboarded sequence has Shepard ordering his squad off of the stricken whereverthehecktheyare as it comes down around them while he activates the sequence that finishes off the Reapers, and the ME1 LI starts getting flashbacks to the last time Shepard ordered everyone off...
/sigh
