 I saw this on 4chan. No idea who the original poster was because of that, but I feel dumb as two tons of bricks after reading it for not realizing it all along.

The so called "best ending" where you see a breif flash of shep wake up in rubble after picking the destroy option?

Well...Suppose the following;

They didn't finish the game. For what ever reason(EA busting their chops, didn't want to, general economic limiting)...they wanted this conclusion to be massive, epic beyond proportion(Like you know, the rest of the series...and this game alone(Best rpg of the year without endings?)

so they give us these cliff hanger retarded endings to drive us crazy while they create a whole expansion pack for just the ending of the game.

Mass Effect 3: Take Back Earth

Shep wakes up to the sound of her squad mates calling out to her after Harbinger dropped the bomb on her. She was being indoctrinated (That's the ending we saw, with the three rediculous choices) and everybody who didn't pick destroy fell for it, cuz standard run of the mill indoctrination isn't working for shep. (this explains why TIM was on the stupid citadel, why anderson was there, ahead of shep no less and why the endings in general made a whole load of not-sense all over the place.)

and this expansion will be what happens after you wake up. (The actual conclusion to the most epic sci fi trillogy since starwars (3-6, not that terrible 1-3)

I know...I know, this could go into one of the "endings are crap" megathreads, but i feel like this is a separat discussion....or maybe im delusional and should repost it in one of the megathreads.

p.s. forgive me if this exact thing has been posted prior, forum software is terrible...search function nearly worthless.

EDIT: Seems this exact thing has been posted before (as well as responses to this)

I will be silent ;_;

Trusting /v/ could be a problem. Unless you have proof beyond "/v/ said it", I heavily doubt this would be the case.

No.

It's not proof.

Just a theory.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like that.

maybe if I add a question mark in the title?

I can only hope with all my being that any of this will be remotely true.

I will just wait for the fans to rewrite the endings.any DLC is just a waste of time that doesn't expand the ending like arrival does. Oh yeap we get 250 EMS for retaking omega, and how does that help when people can get the endings?

Why would they keep the "real" ending a big secret only to release an expansion in a year or so with the real ending. Doesnt make sense to me. So first you leave alot of fans disappointed for 6-12 months, then you ask them to buy the ending they thought would never come? Seems like a strange kind of business that could easily backfire unless they announce their intentions REALLY soon.

No, because that's just cheap. I don't want to be told "lulz, u wear teh indoctrinatated! u picked wrong! games over! you died!"

I really hope this is true.

I don't see the point at all in getting DLC for ME3 if I know Shep's just gonna disintegrate/die from blood loss and the entire ME universe is wiped out.

oh i'm just generalizing, they would make it work for all three endings. Thats one reason they are pretty generic even when chris metzen...did i just write that? Not Chris Metzen, what ever the lead writers name is...Gamble, i think...Was all going on and on about how awesome the endings were.

if you picked control, you wake up in a hospital and they are like "we can't believe we used TIM's research to save shep from becoming a husk!" blah blah

Same thing for synthesis...

does sorta feel like a cheap rip off still.

Like i said...It's just a theory

who knows, they might have the damn thing nearly done...maybe THATS why the stupid game was pushed back 3+ months.

I would've waited another frakking year if it meant I got a good ending that wrapped everything up.

 Calling it ME3: Take Back Earth pretty much contradicts their entire marketing campaign. But I still wish this theory turned out to be true.
