do everything, scan everything, talk to everyone. i had 7150 or something when was at the end.

I think he means w/o multiplayer.
It seems to me that the game rewards mixed-alignment Shepards the most. You get considerably more reputation and so you can convince TIM and the Quarians more easily. You also get the most out of a blend of Renegade/Paragon actions.
-Kill council in ME1, as long Thane lives through ME2
-Status of Collector Base doesn't matter
-Cure Genophage w/ Maelon's data intact in ME2
-Quarian/Geth peace, status of Heretics doesn't really matter
-Be ruthless towards your enemies and all who have ever impeded you but be sympathetic to innocents and bystanders. And of course be a completionist (though the ME1 resource gathering doesn't matter. Just the Matriarch Writings)
