In my playthrough, I remember only getting it in the ending missions, but I didn't want to try a completely new weapon/setup in the finale. Then, after the end where it "teleports you" back to right before assaulting TIM's base, I don't have it anymore.

It's not in any stores, and I have no idea where to get it. I've always wanted to find it, and there aren't even any videos of it in action. Can anyone help me out?

I found it on Cerberus station, just after you blow up the hangar gates.

Why would they only make it available at the very end of the game? And then make it unavailable when you get "teleported" back just before the point of no return?

Three words: New Game Plus.

EDIT: Never mind. Didn't realize the thread had been necro'd.

Even so, its still annoying. I've never understood why developers like to give you kit so late in a game that you don't get a chance to use it - they did the same damn thing in Deus Ex:HR with the Laser and Plasma rifle.

Funny you bring up Human Revolution. Actually, the weapon that pissed me off the most was a DLC grenade launcher that I paid money for and never got to use it until the end of Hengsha II. Like...what???

That too. In a game where you permanently upgrade individual weapons with single-use, in-short-supply upgrade kits, immediately dumping a ton of new weapons on the player about an hour from the end is just stupid design. I remember dumping half my arsenal (including my beloved taser) to carry that laser and grenade launcher.... well worth it though... :P

Things aren't quite as bad as this in ME3, but I still thought it was downright silly how late some of the guns were given. Frankly, I reckon every single one should have been made available in the shops, like they did with the Hornet and Spectre guns.

Don't misunderstand: I agree wholeheartedly. I also dislike the assumption that everyone is going to go to NG+ with every character. However, the question of the thread was why they would put the weapon in the end-game. The answer is simple: for use in NG+. I don't agree with the answer, but that doesn't change the answer itself.
