That just shows that they dont have the balls to tell us the real ending, and that the story is far from over.
Mass Effect isnt just shepards story, but the story of the galaxy. If it is indeed a dream, then why didnt they show the reaction of reality when his squadmates found shepard dead? Why dnot show us that?
If it was a dream, then the story isnt finished, and the war is still ongoing. That just spells DLC to continue the story.
And even if it was a dream, theres too many plot holes that remain. Why in the world would shepard give in the the Reapers god? Why would he imagine Joker abandoing him? Why would he dream of a random old guy telling a story? Why in the HELL WOULD HE DREAM OF THE MASS RELAYS BLOWING UP?
To the person that said that the fans are dumb for not understanding the deeper meaning, if you intepret it this way, the **** just smells less awful, but the **** stains are still there.
If the ending was a dream, its even more insulting

I think people's reluctancy to accept the indoctrination theory is that it would entail having to buy future DLC to get the real ending. In that sense it's a downright underhanded attempt at getting more money from the customers in the future.

Unless it's just a plot to get people to buy the game new rather than used? (Remember the whole cerberus network on ME2?)
