It's funny how they talk about punishing biggest fans when in reality the biggest fans buy the CE.

DLC for most of us was a minor annoyance. The amount of rage that thing is generating is incomparable to what's happening because of the atrocious ending.

He hit alot of good points.

"But part of the gamer-developer relationship that makes all of this work is trust. Trust is important because it keeps fans coming back to a specific developer. It builds brand loyalty, and creates the sense that the developer cares about its fans. This can lead to not just repeat customers, but less piracy – and better user reviews."

Well, they did lose my trust after not only the fact that the DLC played a massive part in the story, but also the fact that they coped out on the ending.

From Ashes was not a DLC, it was part of the game and when script leaked, they removed the Prothean and decided to publish it as DLC.

If you played ME2, zaeed or kasumi DLCs, you'll see the difference. Javid had unique dialogues, with Liara with other partners. Take him to Thessia you'll see the if it was DLC or not.

No, it wasnt a DLC, Javid was created at the same time when ME3 was creating. They just separated from the actual game. Because of that we're thinking the same thing for endings. They removed the endings and publish the actual ones as DLC so every ME3 of the world will see the actual end in the same time.

Extra: Javid was the Catalyst in the leaked script, so you'll get what i meant.

Yeah definately ... I'm sure we'll see more of the "non-gaming invested" journalism sites pick up on this.

It's such a shame to be repeatedly reminded that gaming review sites have no integrity left.

Although the power of consumer is something that the producer needs to respect. I believe that we as a customer should also respect the producer's decision to a certain extent. DLC; yes it bothered me and many people, but that would've never pushed us to the limit of a flame war that Bioware is experiencing right now. However the ending was inexcuseable. It's like you building a bookcase, only to realize that none of the stuff that you've built does anything remotely close to making a bookcase. Now all you got is handfull of despair, anger and bunch of useless wooden boards all laying around in your livingroom.

Yup, I loved reading this article because it validates what I've been posting about for a long time, the monetary value of goodwill and trust.

As one of the people who bought the DLC I can also agree that Bioware's stance is a load of crap. The content gained from the DLC can hardly be considered "extra stuff on the side". On my first play-through I hadn't purchased the DLC yet, but on my second playthrough I wanted to see how minor or major a role it plays. Well personally I think it's a pretty big deal and not something that should have been sold separately to the main game.

Javik voice file was already salvaged from the demo, so what are we talking about?

... That does it, this man has lost all my respect.
Bioware, Your relationship to the fanbase is hanging in a thin thread right now. Get your act together!

"I think an analogy here would also be useful.

Imagine a band releases a 12-song album for $14.99. On the same exact day the same band offers a downloadable extra that has three songs not included on the album for an additional $4.99. Then the band says that those extra songs are just “sugar on top” and that they’re trying to release “awesome music” so fans should just stop complaining because “they don’t know what it’s like to record music.”

Now imagine that the same band had, in previous years, released 15 song albums for $14.99."

Quoted for truth.

It it true that the good ol' gamer community basically attacks the writers in virtual space now?
That's it? That's the community here?
We came a long way from appreciating a game like Deus Ex or Baldur's Gate.
That's sad.

Not too sure if the second article actually hits home to readers as to what exactly is going on here.
The part that talks about the ending was terrible, only goes on to talk about the previous script leaks and not the actual current ending that was released.
But sure, this article is written by a gamer, but it sounds as if he's saying "I'm not like other fans so maybe I don't get it like they do."

Doesn't sound too constructive to me.

But the funny thing is we, the gamers, are actually the ones who allowed Bioware + EA to crap all over us. Mass Effect sold for like 3 millions on the first day of sale, and the rate seem to be picking up as it goes. Big company like EA don't give no craps about anything that happens as long as they make money.

The industry today is being monopolized by corporate giants who don't care about their games so long as they make money. Blizzard merged into Activision to form Activision Blizzard. Bioware was acquired by EA and good old betheda bought the Fall out Franchise from Interplay. As the big companies continue to consume small devs. that actually care about the things they make microsoft style, the games we have today will have less variety. Eventually we will face a time where all the games are produced by the same soulless company like EA and there's nothing anyone can do about anything.

The dark days of video gaming is nearly upon us people.

----------------------

On a brighter note, I'm not the only one who noticed this and there is actually a solution gamers are working on at the moment.

Check out this upcoming game:
http://www.interstellarmarines.com/

This is a game in developement that's created by gamers, for gamers, and instead of greedy publishers it's also backed by gamers as well. As long as there's a game like this I will continue to believe that all is not lost.

Sorry for the rant.

Even better, in the leaked script, HE was the catalyst.
