Initially all the emails were available by date received. (although there is no date in the emails). 

After getting over eyeball about 25+ emails, I go back to the Private Terminal to see that they are all out of order.

This is kind of annoying when you want to respond to emails in order when they come in.

This seems like a glitch as there's no way to resort the emails back in order of receive.

Somebody dropped the ball on menus in general. The journal is horribly organized and glitched in my playthrough to always start on one of the N7 missions after I completed it, forcing me to scroll all the way back up through all my other completed missions just to figure out what I was currently trying to do. Emails weren't much better (and were far less frequent or meaningful compared to ME2's).

@ straindgrey, you can press the resort button in the journal to instantly jump to the top of the journal list. It's the Y-button for the Xbox 360. Though truthfully, the whole journal and email systems are quite a step back from ME2: I liked how read emails were sorted into another page, and mission entries in the journal had actual objective lists you could see. This whole thing with only put a basic description of the mission with no word if you found the item you need for the mission is just bad design, using the standard item collection missions as a common example.
