Impossible to get enough EMS without multiplayer - No spoilers

1. The multiplayer is trash.
2. I have 5 characters.
I wouldn't have even bought the game on 360 had I known they LIED.

but yes if the lied about it they need to fixed the levels of points you need down
i also think it may be to give room for DLC
and again i didnt account for the points you get from the mission were you attack TIM's base and the missions after that which may put it just over 4k

agin if you get can get at lest 7k points you only need 59% to put you over 4k which is 3 matchs on bronze

It's a good thing I did not buy it yet.
After DA2, I was wary of pre-ordering ME3, no matter how much I wanted to. I thought for sure they couldn't screw it up. But hey, go ahead and prove me wrong, BW, why don't you.
I'm not buying it until:
A) They fix this dumb system so that we don't get punished for not playing MP somehow (I don't mind playing with others, I played MMOs for years, play DOTA 2, etc); They fix the endings to something that makes more sense and doesn't have more plotholes than a badly written z-grade movie.
Not that I need to buy it, mind you, with all the videos and posts all over the place, I've pretty much spoiled the whole thing for myself. But I admit, I haven't PLAYED it.
Well I bought the CE for old times' sake, as I was thinking this may well be my last Bioware game. This EMS debacle and the nonsense endings have pretty much guaranteed it's the last.
You did good by holding out.
Second Bioware game I don't buy since I got Baldur's Gate I well over 10 years ago now --- SW:TOR is the other one (not because of BW, I'm just burned out on MMOs for now).
Ok, so I didn't get MDK2 either, but still. Oh, I did buy, but re-sold, the Sonic DS rpg.
This whole thing makes me sad. I used to like this company, and the games they created, so, so much. They used to enjoy great support from their fans, and gave a lot back, as well. I remember how they worked to actually make NWN actually playable in Linux. Which was quite something back then. Aside from them, you didn't find much support from the gaming industry aside from a few independants, and ID Software (DOOM 3 on Linux, too).
This all makes me feel like they're going the way of ORIGIN. Those guys were so great too, before EA bought them. As the months dragged on, they pretty much turned to dung and tarnished the Ultima name forever. Ultima --- a name that was the sign of quality role playing games.
Seriously, this is like a bad remake of an awful first film.

oh id like to state again the screen shots were BE FOR attacking TIM's base which gives you another 400 or points iirc + you get some more in the next mission or 2 after
so i THINK you can do it JUST at worst it youll have play 2 to 4 rounds of MP
which since you get 2 weeks of free XBL isnt an issue
A lot of people just don't want to play MP at all, that's being forced into something.
Also, you get 110 points from that mission not 400+.
---
Also saving the Salarian Counselor, not the Dalatrass does not give you Salarian aid it gives you an additional Salarian force, but to get the good Krogan forces which means you need Wrex you can not have the "bad" Salarian aid, because you need someone else to be in command for that to happen and at that point you get less points anyway.

My points will degrade with time. So the XBL Gold temporary account is NOT a solution.
The only solution is to make it so the MP is NOT needed in the first place.
As I have said before, if it's fun, and if it's good, it can stand on its own. Look at Red Dead Redemption, look at Uncharted 3. Those games have fun multiplayer. But neither game requires it to properly complete the single-player campaign. Why do people play them? Because it's fun.
Would I like to try the MP in ME3? Yes. I have tried the demo and found it OK. Not my cup of tea, but it was OK for a 30 minutes timewaster. However, I do not want to have to play it again two years down the line, when I feel like going through the SP campaign and get the ending I want. Especially since I do not want to have to pay MICROSOFT for XBL GOLD.
That's the point.

i think with DLC 2 years down the line it wont matter as the DLC will put you over 4k with only 50% readyness

The only thing about this is the fact you have to have 4,000 EMS points before or maybe it was directly after you go into Cerberus HQ. That is the point of no return. Once that HQ is taken care of, it's on. Someone in this thread—or perhaps one of the other EMS threads, there are a few—has already put that theory to test.

And for those of us without internet to support multiplayer? I managed to get some multiplayer time a while ago thanks to family going out of town, but I won't be able to play online again for quite some time.
You are also failing to address the main complaint here.

Yeah; I feel your pain buddy. I didn't buy MDK2 or Sonic either. There have been disappointments in the past but not like this. I don't have the same time available these days to play games as I used too; so I try to pick the ones I know I'll like, Bioware games simply aren't in that bracket anymore.
I just don't feel I can trust Bioware these days, it's time to move on.

personally, i don't even have an xbox live account attached to my gamertag. we've got one live account in the family for downloads and such, but we don't ever play online. i guess i could make a new account and pay to sustain it, though that would be an added burden when i'm the only one in my household with a job.
and i'm not really sure why i would want to play co-op with strangers on the internet. i mean, i'd love it to pieces if i could play co-op with my husband sitting on the same couch. that would be brilliant. like the way i played borderlands.

Because EMS is just the base that's multiplied by galactic readiness to get TMS, so since TMS's limit is somewhere near 5000, I think people are just getting a little confused here.

riiight. so if we don't have one of those handy devices then just cheerfully sit tight for the first DLC? yeah. okay sure.
the truth is, they need to address this. the manual seems to promise one thing, but most people's experience is vastly different. i just want to know why. and i'm fine with shepard dying. i prefer that anyway. i just don't like THIS.

Are you part of the dev team?
How do you know that?
You can't say that with certainty because you do not know what the DLC will be all about and what it will add.

Total Military Strength - 7041
Readiness Rating - 50%
Effective Military Strength - 3520
And my green bar just below that is maxed.
The further breakdown is:
Alien 951
Alliance 1601
Asari 603
Crucible 660
Ex-Cerberus 225
Krogan 875
Geth 815
Salarian 153
Turian 633
Quarian 525

Beside the point.
We're saying you cannot get 4000 EMS in SINGLE PLAYER ALONE because of the 50% readiness rating.
Please people, stop saying "but try the multiplayer", "but there's the iOS game".
This is beside the point.
The point is, they said you could get enough points on SINGLE PLAYER ALONE. Period. That is untrue. The point is, you shouldn't need to play another game, or play multiplayer (with degrading advantages, even).
That's the point.

No. It's the opposite. It's the TMS that get multiplied...7000 TMS * .5 Galactic Readiness = 3500 EMS.xsdob wrote...

Good thing there are other companies out there, like CDProjekt. At least they can admit when they eff up.

The guide calls it "Readiness Rating" on the list of required points to achieve each ending, and says that "Readiness Rating determines the Effective Military Strength of all War Assets." So these points probably are EMS values.xsdob wrote...
Can anyone actually confirm that it's EMS that needs to be 5000 and not TMS?

I thought players like me, who don't use an online connection with their consoles, would have no problem getting enough points though. Is it not working out for others? Only a few major missions into Act 1, it looked like my bar was halfway full.

People below 4000 EMS cannot get the "deep breath" ending. At all.
People below 5000 EMS need Anderson to be alive (at least for a while), while those who attain 5000 EMS or gain more, will be able to have the "deep breath" ending no matter what happens to Anderson.
Also, your equation is wrong.
TOTAL is the base.
READINESS determines the percentage of the TOTAL which is EFFECTIVE (EMS).
EMS determines which endings you have access to.

The bar position is immaterial. Only the numbers matter. My bar is happy, green, and full and there is no deep breath ending.
