Is EMS locked after I begin the assault on the Cerberus base? Or can I still increase it by playing multiplayer? I started the assault on the base last night with a TMS of about 7400 so EMS of 3700...did everything I could think of without playing MP but apparently you need at least 4000 EMS to get "best" ending. I was going to go ahead and do multiplayer to get the last 300 EMS points but is it too late?
no if you can save and exit you can still rase your EMS with a few rounds mp befor the last push

I ended up short of the 4000 needed to get what is in my opinion the best ending and I did everything I could find. However I never bought the day one DLC, is it possible you could earn 400+ EMS there?

I have learned the truth of the topic the hard way. Even if every war asset programmed into the game is calculated, it still comes up short or just barely makes it--a moot point because it is impossible to, say, have both the Reaper Brain and the Reaper Heart or the Destiny Ascention and a non-reduced Alliance Fleet.
This is something that is very likely to be patched, as it is quite possible wrong values were used on some of the game's assets.Nachtritter76 wrote...

I calculate a possible 815 on Crucible assets. One oft overlooked one that isn't in the Mass Effect 3 Wiki list is the "Advanced AI Relays" which can only be obtained by siding with Admiral Xen in a Normandy argument after the second Rannoch side mission
Still, your list is very close to being accurate. It still doesn't stop trolls from claiming to have 5000 ems at 50% galactic readiness w/o playing MP and posting modded war asset values.
Thank you for the update on Crucible.
And yes, I know it won't stop the trolls. But this is the best I could come up with. I think I even counted some situations that were Paragon/Renegade choices with both values, making my numbers even slightly too high. I thought it wouldn't matter though, because even when being too generous, it still didn't get anywhere near 8000.
My Krogan Values are 845 where yours are 825. The Krogan Female died for me. And I have Grunt and Aralakh Company from picking a certain choice in that mission.
So I may have done something off that you've accounted for. Like I should have taken a slight loss for a smaller gain in the Krogan and a larger gain elsewhere or something... but you might double check that and you can pm me if you need further details of just what I have and I can answer it after work.
Turian is another one we could potentially talk about. I'm only getting into the stuff for Rannoch but I have 633 for the Turians.

You could simply edit your save.

You gain 3% of galactic readiness for every won match, that's 17 matches to go from 50% to 100%. It's about 4 hours of Bronze runs, then you just need to run one match every day to keep it at 100%, are you telling me that you can't spread 17 matches during your whole SP campaign?!
I dispise multi player shooters. I buy these types of games myself for the single player rpg experience. I do NOT want to be forced into playing multilayer just to get a very poor so called best ending... for a game that is essentially pick a magic box 1, 2 or 3 die and get a different colour for the big bang. They are not quality endings, a grade school student could do better even without plagerising Deus Ex. This game was brilliant, right up untill they fumbled and fell very very badly at the end and gave us something with the same level of production as Attack of the Killer Tomatoes fpr the endings.

at that rate it would only take about an hour of failing on wave 1 to get to 60%

Do you mind if I ask, what is your stake in this conversation? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like your consistent goal is to suggest that complaints leveled against Bioware for content enabled only by multiplayer or iPhone/iPad games are invalid.
I, and apparently many others, happen to think that this issue is an instance of a vendor breaking trust with a group of its consumers. Complaint is valid when trust is broken. It doesn't matter WHY I or anyone cannot or will not play MP with internet strangers. All that this issue boils down to is that MP affects SP in a way that we were assured it would not.
That's my perspective. It's possible I'm misguided and I'm open to being convinced through reasonable dialogue. You know, a conversation, a back and forth in which each party tries to understand the perspective of the other. Are you here to do that, too, or just to minimize the validity of complaints without really trying to understand the perspective of, say, a person whose internet connection is too slow for multiplayer and who lacks an iphone?
This may come across as combative, if so, my apologies. I only intend to be direct.

You have not demonstrated that attaining an Effective Military Strength in excess of 4000 is possible without multiplayer.

Sorry that I'm probably really slow on the uptake, but what exactly do you need to get the best ending? Like what war assets do you need? And I'm still kinda confused about how Galaxy at War improves the war asset rating... If someone could please explain without treating me like a moron, I'd be very grateful
As far as I understand it, GaW can:
1) Increase WA. You can promote your character to the SP campaign or buy assets to assist SP.
2) Every time you play MP, your GR (%) is increased. Therefore, your EMS is increased according to the formula EMS = WA * GR(%).
Hope that helps.

Ahh thank you, but more stupid questions incoming
1) What do you mean by buying assets, and how exactly do you promote your MP characters to the SP campaign?
2) What does EMS stand for?
3) What ratings do you need to have to achieve the absolutely best ending (with the extra bit, as far as I'm aware?)
Sorry for the newby questions - I'm away during the week, so I've only been able to spend a little time getting to know the game and playing it, and cleary I've got a lot of catching up to do

I am unaware of any means of purchasing multiplayer assets for use in increasing single-player assets. Multiplayer characters may be "promoted" into a single player save to increase the assets. Promoted characters are an "N7 Spec Ops" asset worth 75 points. Promotion resets the multiplayer level to 1 and adds 10 to the N7 rating.
EMS means Effective Military Strength. It is your Total Military Strength multiplied by your Galactic Readiness.
A minimum Effective Military Strength of 4000 is required to attain the best possible ending. Thus far, no means of attaining this score through single player has been determined.

10k of EMS with just the SP game...I'm not so sure that there's that many points available. Unless Shepard suddenly counts for 2k EMS alone.....

The "best" ending is attainable with an Effective Military Strength of 4000 provided that a prerequisite is met earlier in the game. If that prerequisite is not satisfied, then an Effective Military Strength of 5000 is instead needed.

Also, you only get 100 through From Ashes. Checking the Asset ID's using gibbed editor, there are additional IDs of 500, 501, 502, and 503. 501, 502, and 503 are modifier flags that have to be cleared in order to get the asset ID 500, which is the Eden Prime Support asset, which gives you 100 assets. The Mass Effect Wiki is wrong listing all 4 as 25--checking the gibbed values indicates that all 100 are in one Asset ID.

Did you not bother to read? I don't have xbox live gold. And it shouldN't have been forced down my throat.
I hate gamer self-entitlement as much as the next, but this just feels like a serious slap in the face.
I just bought the game and the ****ing DLC. Why is xbox live gold being forced down my throat too. Do I look like I'm made out of money?
Agreed.
MP looks fun, but I spend my time judiciously. I do not want to be forced to do MP to play a SP game. It's not what I signed up for and what I was promised.
My current readiness is 50% and has not budged. My assets half way through the game is abour 3,100. Without missions in the SP that increase readiness there is just no way to reach the summit. That is a huge design flaw for a SP game if that is the case.
