They tried something slightly different that is the apparent Marmite of the player community. You're in one camp, many folks are in the other. If you're particularly hellbent against that particular mechanic, there are means to mod it; as you would any other game. Chill my man!

So Chris "Evil" Priestly locked our mega thread on this very subject, in the General Discussion forum.

http://social.biowar...662/73#11653471

As people have pointed out, Mike Gamble has said on his Twitter account that we are investigating this . When we have information on it, we will let everyone know.

You can also post this topic, if it has not already been posted, in the technical support forum for your platform.

LOCKDOWN!

I would recommend we all gather here, as it's the 2nd largest thread on the issue... but from what Chris said, I expect another imminent LOCKDOWN while they try to herd us into the platform specific forums.

Being told to shut up really shows how much they are listening... *sigh*

For the benefit of those who weren't following the other thread, why was this locked down? Are they treating the 'not enough ems without MP' issue as a bug or something?

No explanation was given, except for what I quoted to you from Chris Priestly.
For the most part, we kept things constructive and civil... sure there are exceptions when you have a popular thread with over 72 pages... but Chris Priestly was previously locking down other threads on the subject and directing them to the big one.

Now he locked down that as well.  Originally we weren't even given another option to voice our concern, but he recently edited his post to direct people to the platform specific 'bug' forums.

So divide and conquer?

As someone else also said... it's not really a bug if the war assets don't even exist in the game code to being with.

*sigh*

That has nothing whatsoever to do with it.

If you bothered to read anything on this subject and still don't understand why it's an issue, you're lost.

Pardon a potential misunderstanding, but the issue OP appeared to have is that the EMS mechanic currently fails to reflect his solo efforts in the original two games. This is hardly helped by the fact that it also heavily relies on mutliplayer. I agree on these counts, I appreciate that this is an issue.

I felt that modifying this mechanic so it didn't rely on multiplayer performance at all resolved the issue somewhat.

Your suggestion is to modify the game client, which many people (due to choice of platform or technical ability) are not able to do.  Nor should they have to.  Thus, that suggestion entirely misses the point.

Also, you suggest that EA/Bioware requires us to play multiplayer or use iOS Apps to get the highest achievable single player ending.... and that this was a design decision made completely on purpose.
However, they told us repeatedly through blog posts, interviews, twitter, PMs, and a sticky on BSN that this would NOT be the case and was never their intention.

THAT is the point you seem to be missing.

It's not our job to hack the game to fix their problem, one which they promised us would never happen.
Hence our issue.

If you agree with that, then please don't tell us that this issue is simply one of taste (marmite) and that we just need to hack our game (which goes against TOS btw) and get over it (or in your words, 'chill out').

I think thetawave's point was more related to what a player can practically do to solve the problem, rather than getting into a debate of principles and the behaviour of Bioware etc. It comes down to what is more important to the individual player - directly fixing the problem or getting the developers to change their approach. Theta sounds like he's talking about the former - you sound like you're talking about the latter. It isn't so much 'missing the point' as it is having two seperate lines of discussion.

To be honest, Bioware's attitude to modding appears to be more Epic/Valve/Crytek than Bungie/Naughty Dog i.e. they don't care what you do so long as you're not pirating or MP cheating - which, imo, is how it should be. I certainly haven't come across stuff in game that I dislike but can't mod out, and I think its worth suggesting this to the players who may be in the same situation. No need to bite.

I can see where you are coming from, and modding to get access to things that are there but not implemented is one thing - romance options for example - and in the absense of official answers then taking practical action oneself may be course of action some players decide to embark upon.

But why on earth should anyone spend any time having to fix core elements of a game I spent nearly £80 on, which should work when you get it out of the box?

How many hours of life have some people spent trying to emulate their original faces from ME2, and still can't get that to work?

Why should I hack a game to get a 10 second scene I have been told I should be able to get through normal single player gaming?

What about:

Quality Assurance?

Alpha and Beta Testing?

Project and Change Management and Control?

Internal communication?

Something somewhere along the production line seems to have broken.

Well, the simple answer is 'you shouldn't'. But this goes back to what I was saying - the point behind suggesting the player resorts to modding is neither an explanation nor an excuse for the state things are in, rather a suggestion about how to fix the problem as it stands.

As I said, it boils down to what the player is actually bothered about - the apparent lack of QC/attention/etc from Bioware or the fact there is a situation in the game that is not desirable (for whatever reason) and would be better off removed.

You have three options; control the forum moderators, merge forum users and moderators, or destroy the forum moderators but also destroy the Story and Campaign discussion forum.  Also, all options will permanently disable all emoticons.

This is crap! I have a nearly perfect playthrough as a paragon through all 3 games and all I can get is 3572 ems.I refuse to participate in multiplayer.I also suffer from motion sickness when viewing or playing fast moving games.I play rpg for the single player experience. This is not what I paid for.

Wow, this thread is still open.  Nice... for some reason I thought it had been locked.

Anyway, no official news yet... like usual.
Though perhaps a relevant update is that Mike Gamble (who originally said to one fan via twitter that he would investigate the issue) tweeted last week that all 3 endings are available in SP and nothing is limited.

Actual tweet here

So much for that.

well that is not good news - seriously Bioware have just been shocking the way they have dealt with this issue.

"Yes it is possible and go away" seems to be the general theme - seriously what are they thinking!  Obviously not bothered about SP players are there is  too much money to be made out of MP if you ask me.

Beginning to seriously wonder why I'm even asking anymore  what with the complete disregard they are treating us with over this, the whole ending fiasco and the fact that my FemShep still won't import properly after the patch...

...doesn't seem like the best way to keep their customers but hey as long as people are still spending on MP and the money is rolling in what do we matter.   Oh except we are the ones that they think will be buying the next game they release - yeah like that will happen!

Hm, great. We didn't ask about the endings beeing available - just that I want to get the chance to see my FemShep breathing with the red ending and enough points from Multiplayer. Guess ignoring your customers is the new and formerly known "Customer is King" attitude. Right now, I have enough of companies thinking they can do everything and get away with it.

Haven't touched ME3 since playing through it the first time and I don't see me buying *any* DLC for this game in the future if they don't start changing their attitude towards their player base, be it the SP or MP players.

you get a total of 210 more readiness from the reaper brain and reaper heart if you did not destry the collector base...
