So I finished the game as few days ago and, like so many others, have been thinking about the ending (lets be honest, for all intensive purposes there is only one ending, just with different spangly colours... I digress). It really wouldn't be hard for bioware to fix this.

It make the most sense to go back to the framework for Drew Karpyshyn's dark energy ending. Largely it works with the established cannon and things that happened on Haestrom in ME2. There is also Conrad Verner's Dark Energy dissertation floating around in there. Both of which the catalyst's current form invalidate.

You could even use a similar format to the current ending, but perhaps speak to harbringer rather than this wierd god child thing. Harbringer could explain the motivations outlined in the link below.

The best marketing idea for bioware could well be including this as part of a dlc package, perhaps if this take back omega dlc rumour holds and creedence it could include a change of endings. Furthermore, you could include a changed ending as an option in the extras menu, allowing choice between the original ending and the ending that is included with the game (if you follow).

As it stand the ending of ME3 can only make any sense if you spend time both reading into it for several days and you have not played ME2. It invalidate several instances of foreshadowing.

I don't think its fair for anyone to actually say Bioware is lazy, lets be honest, this game is great with the exception of the last 10-15 mins. Perhaps a change in the last minutes back to Drew Karpyshyn's dark energy ending would fix the majority of problems that fans of the series are having.

Finally, it would also be a reasonably easy fix to put some armour on Tali in the photo, leaving only her head revealed. The fact that she is outside her suit with a photo oppertunity really doesn't make all that much sense.

Thanks for reading =)

Also - since its getting push beack quickly, this thread http://social.biowar...ndex/9731514/11 contains a lot of reasons why the original ending works better with established canon.

When they cut out dark energy from the script, they took out Gianna Parasini as well.

I don't think dark energy would have been much better either, but only a thought, they could have executed it better, who knows.

I thought that it would fit better due to the amount of information in the previous games hinting that dark energy is important. Though I also agree that the execution really hurt the ending, it did seem that the catalyst controlling the reapers kinda in validated a lot of stuff, starting with the role of sovereign.

Though the whole Synthetic vs. Organic thing has been in sense the beginning. But the fact that you have EDI and Legion really makes it seem a feeble attempt at an explanation.

For me the Reapers are hellbent or delivering their form of order and the Catalyst is a delusional AI program in the Citadel.

it needed more attention. Finishing the game lowered possibilities of different finals and choices. It's just math. If you have 3 different choices in ME1, and if you have 3 different choices in ME2 there will be 9 different endings. We all know there are more than 3 choices we had to make in ME series, so finalizing the serie with lame final had less risk. Also  no more calculation for endings. Just add 3 colors and you're done.

Simple.

The problem is, i dont think BW got PlanB script about teleporting SQmates or coward Normandy crew.

You can get a war asset "Dark Energey Dissertation" by Dr Conrad Verner (who could have guessed that). When you talk to him, after getting certain items, he mentions he has a Doctorate in Xenotechnology, and Dark Energy is mentioned several times in the coversation.

I just saw it on my playthrough.

You do get the argument of 'we created synthetics to kill organics to stop synthetics from killing organics' (sure the Reapers are kind of organic/synthetic but you get what I mean).

This could just be due to poor execution. However, regardless of delusional AI there must have been some logic to it initially.

The Dark Energy version would have made more sense than "you make robot that kill you, so I make robot that kill you first. See, I save you!' rubbish.

And within five minutes they took the coolest villains in video game history (the Reapers) and made them mindless servants of some pseudo-godchild who for some reason didn't reactivate the the Citadel for Sovereign in the first game, even though it totally upset it's plans? Huh?

IMO, new ending = immersion breaking plot holes
