Most of us usually complain about paid for DLC but not this time. There are people begging to pay for a better ending. Rather clear EA/Bioware knows the economics of the situation. They have been getting almost a week of nonstop free press. The real question is (and sadly I can guess the answer) will the dissappointment and disgust of the biggest fans keep them from buying future products (new games or DLC) or will they just hang their head because they really have no choice?
Look what ME3 has done

I don't know about the rest, but my disappointment over DA2 kept me from buying any DLC for that game, and my disappointment over SWTOR kept me from resubscribing after the free month. And my disappointment over ME3 ending is a LOT greater than those two combined.

I hear you Lex but how many people have you seen that have stated they would buy the DLC even if they are pissed? Lots of us feel like crap right now and a lot would happily pay money to make that crappy feeling go away.

The ending fix comes first before I'm even entertaining anymore thoughts of purchasing DLC, Bioware games are getting wait-and-see from now on, but DLC for ME specifically? Not until the damned ending is fixed. We want more variety and some actualy freaking resolution, we want our actions to have weight, we want the Reapers to be able to win, the cost of the war to be soul crushingly great, or for all our herd bloody damn work to actually mean something in the end - we've lost friends, billions to trillions have died, but the ending should rely on your EMS and your EMS alone and the Crucible should have never freaking come into play.
It's even said in the codex that Reapers aren't invincible and without their kinetic barriers they can be destroyed as easily as any other machine. Destroyers have weaker shields than Reaper capital ships and the Reapers only ever were victorious from blind-siding the galaxy and wiping out galactic leadership leaving the rest in disarray.

I'll just leave this here:
Bioware: what is your name?
Me: I am Commander Shepard, Savior of the Galaxy
Bioware: What is your quest?
Me: To Destroy the Reapers, and nothing can stop me now!
Bioware: What is your favourite colour?

Because we're fighting for something we love: Mass Effect
Not or something we hate: over priced dlc.
We'll never surrender.
