As the title says, when I start up the game, it goes through the whole bioware and ea logos and all of that jazz. Once I press start at the title screen it says that I will have to link an Origin account to play online, I hit ok and it goes to a blue screen where in the top left it says communicating and the bottom right it says please wait... Now I know I'm not the most patient person in the world, but I'm almost certain that I'm not meant to sit at this screen for 30 minutes. The system hasn't frozen as when I press the PS button the XMB pops up with no problems. It's not my internet connection as I've synced trophies and have no problems signing in or anything. I've started the game over 5 times and each time have waited over 30 minutes and I still cannot get past this screen.
I have the N7 collector's edition, I've downloaded the 1.01 patch and the online pass/collector's edition DLC as well as the pre order bonus gun from amazon. The game has gotten far enough to where this website has recognized that I have it (registered) and I was even able to download the soundtrack (again, clearly not an internet connection issue).
I just got the game yesterday (slow shipping) and have yet to be able to play it because of this.

The time this happened to me, I unplugged my modem and a minute later an error message about the Mass Effect 3 server being down appeared. I plugged the modem back in, signed back into the PS network, and successfully connected.

I had this too. The game seems to have trouble on first time startup, so say "No" when asked, and then when you get to the main menu, connect by pressing Triangle. It should take you back, but it worked this time.

Just tried hitting no, it went to the main menu but now it's stuck "checking downloadable content". Unplugging the modem and plugging it back in resulted the same. This is frustrating.

Ok, I don't know what happened but on my 8th try of modem restarting it worked. Hope I don't have to do this everytime I want to play...

I had the same thing happen to me multiple times. I tried playing at different times during the day and was able to get past the communicating screen during the morning and afternoon, but at night I got stuck at the communicating screen again. I'm thinking it has something to do with the amount of people playing at certain times of the day.
