I am currently in the middle of the quarian geth problems in campaign. I do plan on playing MP to help the campaign, but wondering when the best time in the campaign I should start. Also is there a clearly definable point of no return in this game, like the reaper iff mission in me3?

The no return point is just before you go to attack a certain man who dresses well and smokes cigarettes. Just before that mission, I'd try multiplayer, if i were you. At least until your EMS is over 5000. Or grind war assets like a bawss.
