Did anyone have a playthrough of ME3 where Garrus had died in ME2? Or for that matter Tali? Wtf happens.

If Tali died then story wise she just gets replaced by Admiral Shala'Raan. Not sure who take's Garrus' place for the Palavan story arc.

Interesting... so that means you're also essentially down 2 squad mates permanently then?
Maybe I'll go back and kill both of them off in my ME2 playthrough so if I replay ME3 they won't have to suffer through the horrible ending with me.

Yup. If any of your squad mates from ME2 dies, then you won't see them at all in ME3.
