I'm all for more options for LI's but this kind of bugs me too. I don't understand why they can't just ask you what your sexual orientation is during character creation and omit conversations that don't concern you. It'd be fairly easy to program and would make everyone happy, but Bioware's fine with everything with a pulse hitting on you.

Best idea I've heard on BSN in a long time.

It's not about "growing up", putting on "big boy pants" or being insecure. I have nothing against bi's/gays but if I'm a straight male I just don't want male characters making passes at me. Nothing wrong with it, it's just not the way I want to play. In the future, asking for sexual preference before the game is a great idea.

You do realize the average female has to put up with several flirtation attempts right? Whether she likes them or not?

Should no males hit on a female unless she hits on them first? You know just in case she doesn't want them hitting on her.

Or rather would you expect them to try to get her interest just in case she's interested as well?

If that's your cute way of saying point missing it I believe you should apply that to yourself. I've had to deal with unwanted advances on my Shep for 2 games and they were alot more blatant than Kaidan.

I never said this wasn't an issue in the first two; just that in the future, they should have an option at the beginning.

It's an RPG. We ALL should have the option to play the way WE want.

I don't care if it happened in previous games, or if it happens in real life, I'd just prefer it not to happen in future games.

So yes, you missed my point.

A certain minority group might be offended, and we can't have that now can we?

Anyway, do the merciful thing and spare Kaidan a retconning by giving him an honorable death in ME1.

Except you fail to realize Shep has been being hit on since the beginning and apparently it's okay for you as long as it's not the gender you don't want to be hit on by.

I'd like an option to turn off all flirtations period. Male, female whatever. Especially those damn Asari. I dealt with it.

And you missed mine. If you're okay with the rest of the flirtation and it's only a problem now to me you're hypocritical.

If your point is you don't want characters (PERIOD like the Consort, Ashley, Liara and Shiala and Parsini and not just male characters hit on a male PC) hitting on the PC without being flirted with first I'd agree with you. I want that gone too because it irritates me to high heaven. As it is now it sounds like "ewww keep the gay away from me because ra forbid I turn someone down!!!" which I'm vastly less sympathetic towards and am aboard the "deal with it." train.

I didn't get either Kaidan, Cortez, or Liara trying to hit on me in my playthrough, for which I am glad. Diana made some comment though, which irritated me.

I never said Shep hasn't been hit on in the past, please read better. And yes, I dealt with it too, but in the future, it'd be a nice OPTION. OPTION being the key word. Once again, I never said I was okay with the rest of the flirtation, nor that it's only a problem NOW, so I don't know where you got that from. Your last paragraph is just, well rude to be honest. I never said anything like that at all. I mean no offense, nor do I mean being gay/bi is wrong. I JUST WANT THE OPTION TO AVOID THESE SCENARIOS. If you can't understand that, you are just being ignorant. This argument is pointless, so I'm done here.

And you apparently can't read either because I never said you said that. <_<

Avoid all these scenarios = avoiding flirtation in general? Because if it's actually that and you're not one of those "Oh it's cool for the Asari to hit on me but ra forbid anyone else that I don't want to sleep with does." then I apologize. I'm used to debating with those types.

As for ignorant. Nope you just didn't make your point very clearly. Specifiying male characters hitting on your male PC didn't work in your favor.

@Cthulhu42 : Only comment I got from Diana was only midly flirty and it seems more like she didn't mean it that way but if Shep takes it that way she's game.

I turned her down though.

Yeah, I guess it was more the character that irritated me more than the actual line.

His point was clear to me, and it's very good one too. An option during character creation would do no one harm. And you might not have said that, but you kind of implied it. But yeah, I have to agree with him. This argument is pointless and I don't know why you chose to continue it after he walked away like the bigger person.

I'm going to ask you this honestly.

How would you honestly feel if BW implemented a skin toggle option at the beginning of the game. And if the player selected "white" all the darker skinned LIs were turned lighter skinned? Or made it so none of the darker skinned LIs would hit on the player and only the lighter skinned ones would?

And if you really think the arguement is pointless why are you continuing it? As for bigger person yeah you can think that.

It's not acceptable to me simply because it to me is like whitewashing. And I really fail to see how its so utterly terrible (especially since it's been happening since the beginning of the series) to turn down someone hitting on the PC. So much that you need to toggle off all the gay flirtations (or are you pro toggling off all flirtations period?).

I'm sorry, what? That comparision isn't even remotely similar. You completely lost me. Skin color=/=sexual orientation.

And I'm sorry, I didn't intend to continue it. It just urks me when people fail to drop a conversation when one person backs off. Just makes you seem like an ass IMO.

For me it's similar enough. Why should you get a toggle to stop a male PC from hitting on your PC and I not get one to stop a darker skinned LI from hitting on my PC? If you get to be uncomfortable and get the game tweaked to accomdate you why shouldn't someone uncomfortable with darker skinned LIs get the same? Fair's fair.

Course this could be solved by having no character hit on the PC without the PC hitting on him/her first. Why BW didn't do this in the first place I'll never understand. Yes it's less organic but it's also less annoying.

Then ignore me *shrugs* Obviously he didn't really drop the conversation if he kept responding.

@Joker: Awww you have nothing better to say? :kissing:

This annoyed me as well. I don't have a problem with people if they're gay or not, but I didn't want it forced onto me in the Single Player simply because I chose to play as a Paragon character and not Renegade. The citadel part with him... Yeah no.

Bullcrap. He was originally meant to be bisexual like Ashley, they even voiced the scenes for Mass Effect 1 but due to some shenanigans, they had to remove that from the final cut. No, he wasn't retconned for Mass Effect 3. He was retconned for Mass Effect 1. They repaired their mistake with this game. Found that on the official fans Wiki page.

Nothing wrong with gay characters, infact I praise bioware for going beyond hawt lesbian smex scenes. But I hate this guys/girls hitting on you when it makes no sense. Same happened in Dragon Age 2. If a character is gay it should be part of their character, not just added on so you CAN have a gay romance option with them. It should feel natural, not forced.

But he's not gay. He's bisexual. Jeez... *sighs*

I see your point, but not everyone in real life will shout out about their sexualities. Some of my friends are bisexual and say they're straight because it's easier. With the right person, they can go out publicly about their sexuality. It's not a big deal unless it's taboo to your own personal mentality and growth.

Kaidan clearly broke some aspect of the bro code. Yet you had to see this retcon coming, else the fanboys would threaten to cut themselves.

*headdesk*

It's still POSSIBLE to have a brotherly relationship with a bisexual guy. Just saying. I know this because my bro is bi.
