I'm on my second playthrough right now. As an ENGINEER. Engineers are awesome, by the way. You get a turret and a combat drone, and you can RULE the battlefield. The turret can shoot flames and rockets! How can anyone not think Engineers are awesome? I think they should get rid of the Soldier, I mean, what a waste of resources. All you do is carry guns and shoot. Lame.

The real man doesn't need turrets or drones to do his work for him, he has his flamethrower in one arm and rocket launcher on another. But that would imply that ranged weapons aren't for wusses. If he was a real man he would get up there and punch an Atlas to death with his bare hands. That's why I don't always play Mass Effect, but when I do I play vanguard.

Who cares what real men want or need? I'm a woman. I want stealth, sniper rifles, and My Little Pony avatars. Why should I care what you want? Pffft.

Only flirting probably would've been vaguly rapey and mentioning how he was going to dominant Shep though. I mean...the damn emails are weird enough as it is.

...ick.

yeah...no thanks.

Either that or it would've mixed killing her with sex and...yeah still bad.

I just said flirting, not anything more than that. >_>

Jeez, this conversation just went somewhere horrible...

Only time he would've had the opportunity to flirt with her though is when he's trying to kill/defeat her.

And damn you Kaiser. Now the images won't go away. Ick, ick, ick.

Now you get it. None of us care what other people want, so we settle this like proper gentlemen... in the Thunderdome!

I got Kaidan's romance attempt... I got his romance attempt on the Citadel... and in my quarters... and in the showers... and on one of the hospital beds when I convinced Chakwas that Joker was complaining about some pain in his legs... and in engineering... several times in the Normandy elevator... and...

OH.. this is one of those hetero outreach threads to support straight men in crisis.

Sorry - think of big blue boobs... everything will be fine my hetero brothers!

Just meet me for dinner at the Citadel and we'll talk through this.

The Thunderdome can decide anything. Why we bother with crap like the United Nations when we could resolve conflicts via Thunderdome remains a mystery.

Europe, mostly. The Canadian Frost Giants and the Australians would be all for it, I'm sure.

But apparently "break the deal, spin the wheel" is frowned upon in some establishments.

Typical Yuropeans standing in the way of progress. Well Greece is still going to end up like something out of Mad Max.

Male Shep always kills Kaidan on Virmire and it's going to stay that way. I don't like having that stuff being shoved down my throat.

I guess you could call it a double standard, but I find M/M to be disgusting but F/F can sometimes be OK.

Bro's before ho's, I saved Kaidan because I liked him as a friend. I disliked Ashley because of her constant whining.

I struggled with this.  Ashley is a bit "winey" but she's pretty attractive.  When I saw the screen shots for Ash in Mass Effect 3, I went back and played a new Shep, just to romance her.  I should probably work on not being so shallow...but I deal with her attitude because she is now the hottest crewmate(IMO).:)

Kaidan's not a bro. Now Garrus, Garrus is a bro. But Kaidan lost that status, if he ever had it in the first place, after that Horizon scene, which I never saw because across my six ME1 Shepards he always bit the bullet on Virmire.

Even if Kaidan was a Bro (which he isn't), it's a wingman's duty to do anythin to ensure his bro gets some booty. This includes gettin blown up. B)

Some points:

1. If you say you have "nothing against homosexuality" after you've just made a homophobic comment, then you are a homophobe.

2. If you also say that m/m is "disgusting" but f/f can "sometimes be ok" then you are a homophobe, and you're making double-standards as well.

3. If you're whining and crying because Kaidan hit on you, you're a homophobe.

As a girl, I've had passes made at me by men and women I don't know, male friends and female friends alike. Do I sit down and have a cry because they "shouldn't" be allowed to do it? No. I say "Thanks, but no thanks," and move on.

Some people want m/m and f/f romances in games. I'm one of them. Do I always choose that option? No. But why should people be denied the choice? It's not harming anyone. It's not impacting on your gaming choices--and it's not being shoved down your throat, because you have the option to turn the person down. You have the ability in game to say "Thanks, but no thanks." and you'll notice if you do that, then the LI in question bothers you no more.

It's not like real life, where you turn a person down and sometimes they won't take no for an answer. Maybe then you'd have something to complain about.

Let go of your sense of entitlement and get over it.

This annoyed me as well. I don't have a problem with people if they're gay or not, but I didn't want it forced onto me in the Single Player simply because I chose to play as a Paragon character and not Renegade. The citadel part with him... Yeah no.

Wow... Just wow... I can't believe you people.

Kaidan was retconned for a very small but vocal minority. Sad but true.

Bullcrap. He was originally meant to be bisexual like Ashley, they even voiced the scenes for Mass Effect 1 but due to some shenanigans, they had to remove that from the final cut. No, he wasn't retconned for Mass Effect 3. He was retconned for Mass Effect 1. They repaired their mistake with this game. Found that on the official fans Wiki page.

You... do relise... intent.. and what you accually DO, are 2 different things?  He may have been intend to be bi, but they chickened out, and thus, he isn't bi.  He was given a pretty obviouse sexual orintation.  He was in love with a girl, killed for her, enjoys the Asri form, or, the female form on a few different occassions, is hinted to have a romance with ASH in ME1 if you ignore ash as a man, or him as a women.  Comments on EDI's new body... he's not bi or gay, per the game, the released offical cannon game, he's stright, or, well, WAS.

This a recon in the middle of a game, one that IMO doesn't make SINCE.  And yeah, it'd have all be ok by me if they'd stuck to there guns and mad him bi in the first game.  They didn't, no matter what your hacked files show.  And it's pretty understandable why some people are a bit... unsettled by it.  It came out of the blue, and when you stright best friend just hits on you out of the freaking blue, it rattles you a bit.  Not because your homophobic, but because he's you BEST FRIEND, who you KNEW was stright, and no suddenly gay, and what else don't you know about this person you THOUGH you knew?

Very annoying.  And what's WORSE is, if you nice to him... no matter what... he hits on you.  Even Cortaz has a dialog that lets you make it clear you stright without having to crush the poor guy.

An untrue oversimplifaction, and trying to scare of the argument by invoking the title homophobe.  It doesn't scare me.  Image IPB  Kaidan's hitting on you is a major, yes, major retcon of his espablished charater, and comes more or less out of the blue.  I sure didn't see it coming.  And yeah, it kind of wiered me out... i'm not gay, and yeah, no double standered on my end, W/W stuff is kind weirds me out too.  But what people do with friends and loved ones isn't my bussiness.  And frankly, it's not, "the gay" that bothers me, I LIKED Cortaz.  Alot.  Not enought to romance him... again, kind of weirds me out, but enough to save him.  And talk to him whenever i could.

So no, not so simple as you'd like to belive, but whatever.  What's done is done.

Sure, blame the black guy. It's not as if it's your own imagination that went there.  :?

And besides, don't pretend you don't want a piece of evil, asian Adam Jensen.

Just make a sexual orientation slider damnit.

I have no problem with gay people. But i have a problem when gay people hit on me when i gave them no indication that i'm gay. I shouldn't have to be a jag off to kaidan to stop him from wanting to bone me. I never had to be mean to cortez, he didn't hit on me once.

Also i hate the fact they made him Bi in this one but he was straight in ME1. That's the worst part of this.

While he was working for a terrorist orginization that just killed atleast a hundred innocents on the citadel the first time you meet him? and knocks you into a pit the second time?

I don't think femshep would want to flirt with him. Would seem a bit out of character.
