Ignoring the ending it's good but it kinda feels like it's forcing internet memes like the calibration and Mordin's song even if it can ruin the mood. Mordin's sacrifice is not as dramatic if he's singing while dying. The combat was great, lots of fun with an unforgivingly brutal AI.
If you IGNORE THE ENDING, what are your thoughts on ME3?

Take note Bioware. You guys made a great game. But damn if you didn't ruin the finish....

Well if you put the ending aside...yeah I enjoyed pretty much 99.5% of the game.

You can't overlook the ending. Its like putting poop frosting on a chocolate cake the cake is divine but who would want to eat it when its covered in poop frosting!
That being said I thought DAO made me feel but ME3 was a masterwork at emotional manipulation. Deceiving the Krogan made me bawl for about 30 minutes and even as I did it I was numb and had chills and felt sick- "I can't do this, I can't do this to them" But everytime Wreave opened his mouth My shep kept hers shut and after Eve died I knew as horrible as it was I made the right call. I did what needed to be done but I hated myself for it it was AWESOME!!!!

Whne ignoring everything after you have the final sit-down with Anderson, the game was actually quite good. Most if not all mini/sub plots were resolved in a satisfying way. Though some parts (like all the romances) should have gotten a bit more attention.
All in all, a fantastic game for the first 35 hours of my playthrough, heartbreakingly dissatisfying for the last 10 minutes...

I was with ME3 all the way through Anderson's final moments with Shepard.
Loved the cameos, the way the past two games shaped the third, and the apparent instances where renegade choices from previous games positively impacted the game and paragon was the wrong choice. I played as a mostly paragon guy, but craved precisely that kind of unknown element. Was thrilled I could romance Kelly, though I wish there was more to be done with that. Loved the way the crew moved around and interacted.
Missed uncharted planets and explorations, other hubs besides citadel, the variety of side quests from ME2. Apart from infiltrating the geth database, I don't think there was a single non-combat mission outside of the citadel.
Didn't like the omnipresence and inexplicable power of Cerberus, the journal system, planets not staying named on the map after you explore them, systems with no resources not being marked as 100%.
Hated the large amount of autodialogue, and prior to the ending, was the one thing that I felt if BW tweaked in places, would catapult ME3's greatness.
In general, I think bioware did a great job tying the three games plot points together. But yeah...that ending and its atonal relationship with the rest of the series doesn't sit well with me.

Ignoring the ending it was the single best game I have ever played (IMO). The romance with Tali was very well written and I could feel it. Same with the friendships that I've formed over the years. Then in my ending Tali and I survived and though separated I remain optimistic.

Ignoring the ending it was with out a doubt the best game I've ever played. That's saying alot as I adore Dragon Age and KOTOR. It was magnificent, the perfect way to end the series... then the ending came.

My thoughts towards the rest of the game, in bullet point form:
The characters dying. Now you may be surprised, but I actually liked how it worked out. Unless you killed Mordin (you heartless son of a...) or the Quarians/Legion, each character who died, went out doing something meaningful, and their deaths were effective. My personal favorite was Thane, who was practically on his death bed, fighting evenly with the cybernetically enhanced Kai Lang.
I like what they did with the weapons, combining the upgrading from ME2, with the weapon modification from ME1. Putting a scope on my assault rifle for long range combat is incredibly useful.
I liked the new scanning mini-game. This one is more subjective than my other comments, as some people liked the resource collection from the other games, but I found that they were a tad annoying. Granted, I can see how some can believe that the first game's open worlds showed just how massive the settings were, but they just got dull after a while. At least the appearance of the Reapers during scanning made it SEEM desperate.
I liked how the choices you made were at least BROUGHT UP. While Conrad's missions were too ridiculous to be believed, the rest of their mentions at least had some effect, if minor. It really gave the feel that you weren't just playing Shepard. You were playing YOUR Commander Shepard.
I like how the characters on the Normandy didn't always stay in one place. They moved around, talked to each other. It gave the appearance that they weren't just static objects, they were actual people, and friends, and do things on their own. Drunk Tali was a personal favorite.
I like how the Reaper destroyer bits showed that, while extremely powerful, Reapers can be destroyed. I thought they were foreshadowing their weaknesses, along with some of the stuff from the second game. But that ENDING...
Now for the stuff I didn't like.
The Crucible, even before the ending. It just seemed too convenient. Although the reveal that it was an effort from long before the Protheans, kinda made me like it more.
There were a few bugs, like how you can fall through the stage occasionally, and having
Tali's face, it was a little lazy. Hell, I honestly would've settled (and had a good laugh) if they just had their art guys use that popular deviantart picture of her face that I can't find.
The comment that a higher force besides the reapers was propagating the cycle. I thought that Vendetta was just assuming, or simply suggesting that something like Berserk's active force of causality was behind it. But then the ending...
I dislike how linear the game seemed. Remember how in ME1 and 2 you had at least three worlds you could go to, before a mandatory "middle world". Why not have Thessia/Horizon, Krogan/Turian, and the Rannoch missions be available once you get out of Mars?
I was also annoyed that the mission journal never updated. If I had to spend all day working, and come back the next day, I'd like to know which one of those scanning fetch quest items I already have.

The entire game leading up to Harbinger shooting you down was one of the best things I have ever experienced. Minor issues and little plot holes were excusable because everything else was just that good.
Maybe if I can wipe the memory of the ending away from my mind, I'll finally play another Shepard. The game deserves that much.

I really, really enjoyed the game until the ending. In fact when I got the game I was told, "The ending is crap." But I decided it might just be some people who didnt get what they wanted and trusted it was going to be fine, and I actually believed it as everything was enjoyable. Until I heard, "hey shepard the crucible ain't working", and then got carried on a giant blue platform to speak to some reaper child? Heck I would have been fine with the Reaper child if the choice was "Control the Reapers" and pick how I control them (send them away or let them share their technology) or completely destroy them (and just them), and then get to go to your crew and love interest to live in peace. That wouldn't have been optimal in my opinion but it would be better than a forced horribad ending that isn't even bitter sweet.

I physically cannot ignore the endings, I can acknowledge that without them, ME3 would have been the best game...ever.

Cant unsee what you have already seen. It was certainly as good as the other two up until that point.
After that I would have done anything to rewind time and never have bought the game. It destroyed an entire game, and an entire franchise in the blink of an eye.
Easily the worst game ive played in a long time. You know how good ME's are, so that should give you an idea of just how bad the ending was.
I don't understand this, I don't think you've played enough games, trust me there are some pretty terrible games out there, even if you absolutely hate the ending, the game is very well made, the pacing, the mechanics, the systems, the narrative, and the ending isn't even 'bad', its just that you don't agree how the series should end.

Apart from the ending, it's a brilliant game. As a long-time fan, the slight nods to earlier events just made these warm smiles spread on my face over and over again.
"I'm Garrus Vakarian, and this is now my favorite spot on the Citadel!"
"Something about... calibrations."
EDI's constant "That was a joke." stuff and slowly learning to be more human.
This game is such a treat to me as a fan, from start to... almost finish. If the entire game is a big delicious cake, the ending is a rotten cherry on top that gives you food poisoning.

Aside from the headaches I suffer at the end of the game due to severe confusion of the endings ^^ and the adoption of Fallout New Vegas head turning bug (as well as some other bugs), I like it a lot and enjoyed the adventure. Combat seems to be smoother, combos are great, great pace and party banter is fun. Seeing the whole band back together carves a smile in my face.
