Ignoring the ending? Best Mass Effect in the series. I thought the story was dark, gritty, heart wrenching at points, and balanced well with lighter moments of humor and relaxation. I loved the new weapons mod system, and enjoyed how it was made necessary through weight effecting power recharge (I liked the challenge). I loved the interactions not only between you and your LI, but between crew members when you're in ear shot on the normandy. I felt it was very well written, up until the very end. All in all, the game was fantastic, and nothing short to what I've come to expect from Bioware and its team. . . if you ignore the ending.
If you IGNORE THE ENDING, what are your thoughts on ME3?

Actually, I loved it. The worst part of the ending was that the excellent story development up until I got lifted into robo-heaven had me almost certain that the ending would be spectacular.

Ignoring the ending is a real challlenge since it turns the rest of the trilogy into filler, however:
I felt it was good most of the time and great some of the time, which was slightly worse than my emotional responses to Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 -- I thought the job they did showing how your choices mattered was great in some ways (Mass Effect 2 companions) and medicoere in others (Rachni Queen).

Ignoring the ending, I thought that Mass Effect 3 was great. The first game still remains my favorite because I think that the storytelling was the best in the original game.

Besides some missing ME2 LI scenes, it was amazing.
It wasn't just amazing.. that's an understatment and I think that's why everyone is so upset. I cried, I cheered, I saluted, I cherished, I loved, I had all these myriad of emotions and it was all culminating into one final, epic battle. The epitome of interactive gaming was being thrown at me... and then it sailed past me out the ****ing window and into the dumpster.

ME3 was looking to be my third favorite game ever behind KOTOR and ME1. It had everything I was looking for.

There are many flaws with Mass Effect 3, but baring the ending, it was a great experience and I truly enjoyed playing it. It almost recaptured the wonder and glory of the very first time I played Mass Effect 1.
However, with the "ending" my enjoyment was deflated. Instead of remembering the great character interaction and dialog, all I can think is how disappointing the ending was and how it basically ruined the entire Mass Effect universe.
I cannot replay ME3, or ME1 and ME2 for that matter. All I can do now is play the occasional round or three of multiplayer.

ME3 would have been one of my favorite games ever if not for the atrocious last minutes.
I literally stared at the screen watching the credits roll feeling like I was about to puke after seeing the ending.

Consequences: Mordin,, Tali, Legion, all very well done, never been moved by a video game like that. Romance with Liara was touching, well executed. Good seeing the changes in Jack, Jacob etc after the events of ME2 and the time I spent with them on the Normandy.
I paused the game on Earth for dinnertime with my wife. Was telling her this was the greatest, most moving narrative I had seen in a video game. Loved it, loved it, loved it, not just as a game, but made me appreciate the whole series more.
Then I went back and finished it. Undid all the good for me, the endings were that bad.

My reaction to ending: wtf
I was hoping a long cut scene of your crew. Wtf happened to them?
Also the whole romance scenes made me hate the ending more -.- I promised Kaidan I'd come back.

Asking me to ignore the ending is like asking someone tasting wine to ignore a note that tastes like rotten garbage.

Ignoring from the time you have to make the dash to the magic beam, I was in riveted to my seat. Sure there were some small issues but I was truly caught up in the nostalgia that the previous two games had filled me with to get hung up on them......and then the end happened
Minus the ending, I would say it was at least as good as 1 or 2.

I loved it fo0r the most part. Except for the Earth hearing, I got the intention but it was kind of shallow for my tastes. didnt make the rest of the game any less fun

Ignoring the ending I love ME3, LOVE it. But that ending just seemed way to drastic for some reason. I mean killing the relays breaks the whole universe, it kills any possible future for this fiction I've grown to love...

Before the end: Lived up to the series name. Awesome.
After the end: I dont want to play it, or any ME ever again. One of the worst games of all time. A rare case where a few minutes can destroy an entire franchise. I would do anything to rewind time and never have played it.

for me it, was the best game I've ever played. Period.

So, without flaming or going into another rant thread about the end, what did you guys think about the REST of ME3?
My feelings exactly.

I felt like the intro was too rushed, but other than that (minus the ending of course) was very good. I really enjoyed it.

If only I could ignore the endings, it would have been very good game. Maybe on par with the first ME and better than ME2. But I just cannot...

As a game it's great. But one of the big selling points of ME3 is that it's the end of the trilogy and the fact that the endings are a terrible piece of work sort of overshadows it's strong points.

Very solid game all around. I think some of the conflicts were handled well, such as the entire genophage plot and the entire geth plot. The middle of the game, where you're less concerned about WHY you're doing things and actually get down and work at it, is great.
But I wouldn't give it GoTY as there were some things that continually broke my immersion, like my sentinel Shepard who didn't carry an assault rifle magically having one every time I lost control of her, or holstering a pistol on Shep's back as if it were an assault rifle, or the additional waves of enemies coming in, or finding things on planets then magically knowing that Bob in the citadel hospital just happened to want that. GoTY would have polished these things out and removed that fedex quest garbage.
The scenes leading up to The End were brilliant, which unfortunately just made the end that much worse.
