If you chop off the last 5 minutes it's everything I ever wanted from a Mass Effect game. Very refined, beautiful, interesting, and similar adjectives.

Without the endings....

A 10? Seriously, incredible game. I cried like never before with some scenes. The music, the sounds, the dialogue.

Probably the best game I've ever played, the ending was indeed disapointing, but that's all I'm going to say on that matter. Mantears were shed at Mordin's death, Thane and Legion. Grunt had me worried, and well- there's just so many good points, that I'm willing to accept the ending as canon.

Even though i had read spoilers, having not actually *experienced* the endings it was easy to push them out of my mind. All the way up to Anderson dying, i thought it was awesome, the best of the series. Some things irked me, like the journal or lack of neutral response, but overall i loved it (and noticed auto-dialogue happened primarily in areas where all 3 choices would end up saying the same thing anyway. Not always though, but its not as bad as some people make it, and auto-dialogue is influenced by previous choices anyway).

When anderson died and they were just sitting there, i was thinking "Best game ever".

I could not get enough of the game. ME3 was more than perfect. 11/10. (which makes the ending even more painful)

Right up through the elevator ascending with a collapsed Shepard (a great visual), the game was one of the greatest games of all time. The perfect progression and conclusion of the series.

Then you get the actual final end sequence, and it's some of the worst writing, railroading, and utterly unsatisfying drek I've ever experienced. It diminished the entire experience for me.

ending was a bull (yes ending, singular). But right until the (well put) space casper. Seing thane dieing... it was like i've just lost a good friend, in real life. Or Mordin's: "Had to be me" still makes me endlessly sad.

Long story short, best game ever... if only i could some how ignore the bull in the last 5 (or so ) minutes.

This. Add a nice epilogue to tell the story of what happens afterward, and ME 3 would be the most amazing conclusion to a series ever.

Excellent game if you remove the ending. Sadly the ending waste everything.

Yeah I agree with the OP. An amazing game. Never had a rollercoaster ride like that with a video game. But yeah, what I'm left with now is just about the polar opposite of satisfaction. And this franchise used to be the definition of satisfaction for me. Used to be.

We should keep this bumped for Bioware to know that we really loved the game until the end. someone hit em on twitter. I agree 10-10 a few flaws but until i got to the end i was incredibly happy to ignore them.

Without the endings I loved the games. I was one of the best games I've ever played. I loved the character development, the story, all of it. There were parts that made me cry, parts that I reloaded so I could watch over and over again. It was a wonderful game, then the end happened and I felt like Marlin in finding Nemo, "good feeling gone".

I didn't like the endings/choices. Overall, it's looking like second best of the series, in my opinion. Also, the multiplayer wasn't really needed. Multiplayer isn't bad, but Bioware could have spent time adding more to single player. All multiplayer does is eat up time. I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 , but it wasn't as important than Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 3. Only the characters made Mass Effect 2 worth noting ,to me.

1. Mass Effect

2. Mass Effect 3

3. Mass Effect 2

Everything before the ending was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed all the scenes with each of the companions, they were very touching and well acted. Jennifer Hale blew me away with her voice acting in ME3, she nailed it so well with femshep, it was her best performance of the triology.

Combat was very fun and intense, definitely the best combat out of all 3 games. The gathering of war assets became a bit monotonous but it could have been worse I guess. I liked running into random people in the citadel and having to choose one to support their views/ideas. The virtual world also felt more progressive, for example the companions appearing in different areas on the ship and having conversations with other companions or being at the citadel. Also the progression of the citadel changing as events happened, definitely helped the virtual world feel more alive and less stagnant.

I feel like Bioware really brought the best of ME1 and ME2 along with some new great stuff to create ME3. The whole game was very balanced with the right amount of fighting, cutscenes, dialogue, and emotional investment. One of the best games I've ever played.

The game was extraordinary. It brought the best of the last two games. The gameplay was even a bit better, and the story was awesome! ...until the ending..

The way I put it to my wife is that I had 34hrs and 45 minutes of amazing story, amazing gameplay, and just an overall great game ruined by the next 3 minutes.  Makes the ending all the greater of a tragedy

Agreed, the missions before Earth are better than any ME2 mission. If it weren't for the ending I hated, I'd love even more than any game I played.

You can't ignore the ending because Mass Effect 3 IS THE ENDING. Without an end, the beginning is pointless (ironic, given the ending screws the beginning anyways).

I was getting even more into this game than either of the others. I'm not sure there was a second of it I didn't enjoy, though the times when peoples' necks were at 80º angles threw me off a little here and there. The combat was fun and the story was fittingly epic. The whole "the galaxy's ending...but you gotta get us this rock from a faraway planet so that we may join your cause" thing was kinda silly, but hell that's to be expected from games like this I suppose.

I remember feeling as if I never wanted it to end.

Little did I know at the time just how right I was.

Masterpiece.. almost. Only a few things that bothered me like the lack of dialogue options and control but other than that it was a damn good game.. one of the best I've played in a long time.
