Its a fantastic game to be sure. So many touching, fun and engaging moments. One of the best games I've ever played. The Shepard-Tali romance was wonderfully played out. The friendship with Garrus was amazing. I've played with almost only Garrus and Tali since ME1 so those two have always been my favourites. Visiting Thane in the hospital was a real impact too.

Wich is why for me too, the ending is such a slap in the face. It just overshadows all the good : /

If the ending had been more epic and forfilling to the fans and the character engagement had more to say, and lets nok forget the import choices had more importence: then its really good.

Agreed. I wish I'd just stopped playing 10 minutes before the end :crying:

If I were judging the game as a stand alone piece, not in the context of being the capstone of a trilogy, then not counting the ending I would give it an 8, to Mass Effect 2's 9. Judging it as a part of the greater whole though, barring the ending, I would have to give it a 10, and I don't give 10s. In the context of all that had come before, it was a beautiful and moving work of art, a truly elevated work. Until the elevator. Really though, most of what is great is in the way the game reaches backward and resolves long running conflicts and relationships from the earlier games, I don't see why someone whose intro to the series is this game would even be emotionally invested enough to care about the endings.

Hypothetically if these endings didn't exist? I'd be kissing the games ass more than likely.
Few issues here and there, though they are just being nit picky (For instance, I don't like the way the secondary quests and journal are handled. Walk around, eavesdrop and fetch? No thank you)

There wasn't a single moment in ME3 I didn't like, from the funny moments of hungover Ash and Joker and Garrus swapping jokes to the lows of the characters who sacrificed themselves and the fall of Thessia.

Except for the ending, which was horrible.

Has its bugs, a few plot holes and not including the ending ME3 was a blast to play.

Okay, it's hard to put that garbage ending out my mind but I'll try:

The rest of the game is mind-blasting. Not mind-blowing. Mind-BLASTING. I was enthralled the entire time, even if playing through some things were difficult (ahem, Mordin's scene), I always wanted more. The entire game was what I wanted to see... Tuchanka again, how deep the Salarian intelligence goes, home planets, a genuine feel of hopelessness and war among the entire population. There's really only one bad thing I can say aside from the endings: Auto-dialogue. Too much of it. Aside from that (and endings), it was flawless imho. But the endings are so atrocious, it nullifies a large portion of that...

Up until that point, it was easily the most emotionally engaging game I've ever ever played. I would be on my 3rd or 4th playthrough by now without those endings. Instead, I finished one and I'm just done. I'll be on MP.

9.5/10 if you ignore some inconsistencies with the previous games. It was pretty awesome. Too much retconning and plot holes even if you don't count the endings, but it didn't matter to me because it made up for it with awesome dialogue and emotional scenes.

Most excellent, surprisingly so as I'm used to being disappointed with finales.

Beginning and middle of game I loved. Towards the end of the game, story feels rushed and sloppy, action scenes such as the final space battles to me did not feel all that epic, the final battle in ME1 felt more epic considering when it was made.

While some of the romances seemed lacking, the overall game minus you know what was epic, I mean curing the genophage, uniting the geth and quarians, ducking and dodging multiple reapers, seeing your amassed fleet enter the sol system, your dear companions sacrifices, it was some powerful stuff. I just was hoping for at least one happy ending, I don' t think that's too much to ask for. I also don't think that the multiplayer should have any effect on the single player, I am not some COD yucky who needs that. I get why they put it in but it should not have an effect on whether my shep lives or dies.

Mass Effect 3 was an amazing finale years in the making. The culmination of hard work and determination. The Graphics, the voice acting, and the music were spot on perfect. The story was more or less exactly what I had hoped or expected.

Death of certain characters was inevitable, I knew this, and it wasn't just "We need to kill of characters, lets kill him and him for little reason" it was worthy sacrifices that were memorable and made me cry.

The LI reunion was elegant and heart-warming, I choose Ashley for my first ME3 playthough and I really felt like I was working to earn her trust back, I really saw neat character development through my choices. Seeing the outcomes of my actions such as reuniting two once enemies once at war as friends and allies.

I was worried about the Co-op multiplayer, and it has certain issues, such as lack of a lobby system, but I respect and enjoy the gameplay of it. I like how there isn't a versus mode and you have to work together with everyone to win.
My favorite part is Shepard him/her self. Shepard really shows his emotional side in this game and seems more human rather then the unbeatable Spectre Hero that always wins.

Everything (IGNORING THE ENDING or last 5 minutes) made Mass Effect 3 one of the greatest games of all time. (In my opinion.)

If you take the ending out of the equation, then ME3 is a masterpiece.

Unfortunately, the ending kills the entire series.

Without the ending, it's a great game. But compared to ME2, it's too short. Beat the whole thing, side missions and all, in about 26 hours.

ME2 took me closer to 45, and I think I missed some missions.

But I suppose the multiplayer makes up for that, it's really fun.

corners were cut and a lot of important characters got the shaft

the events in me2 were invalidated

the elements that were focused on, however, were amazing -- priority romance content was beautiful, and the friendships that were cultivated were rewarding and there were a lot of really emotionally charged moments that made me feel something

the child was ridiculous -- out of all things for shepard to fixate on, why this child? it was confusing and i didn't care about it. i also didn't care about humanity, or earth, and i'm not sure why the focus didn't stay on the galactic community as it did in me1. it was a sudden and inorganic change and made no sense.

there were several things that were incoherent -- the geth situation in particular was ridiculous and made me want to vomit with all of its western individual idealism

there were a lot of themes that were set up in me1 that were never concluded or even touched upon

jesus metaphors were rampant and stupid

there was an overall lack of cohesion and i feel that their marketing campaign spoke truly: mass effect 1 and 2 didn't matter

Yes, one of the best games I've ever played, but it doesn't matter when the ending is what it is. It ruins the whole experience.

I enjoy multiplayer a lot though so I don't really mind.

Ignoring everything before Harbinger takes Shepard out, 9.5/10. Minus .5 only for the lack of dialogue options. The gameplay was superb, the story was thrilling, the presentation was flawless. Would have been one of the best games ever.

If I ignore the catalyst plot... then I would give it 7/10. Not a single decision of ME1 and ME2 really mattered. Everything worked out in exactly the same way, plus minus people dying, but when the reapers are on earth this is a common sight.
