Other than a couple of bugged side quests, it was pretty much perfect. Every facet clicked - the voice acting, the writing, the visuals, the music. If one leaves out the final 3-choice scene, I'd rate it as one of the top 5 games I've played, ever.
If you IGNORE THE ENDING, what are your thoughts on ME3?

I could do without all that auto-dialogue, but I understand why they did it. Aside from the ending I'd say it was the best one yet.
Also, the cutscenes were amazing. The animations spot-on. Voice acting gave me chills.

I wouldn't say it's the best one, but it certainly did a good job continuing the story.

Would've been the best game I've ever played otherwise. Mass Effect has been a pretty big part of my life and finding out that everything I strove for was all for nothing wounded me pretty bad.

ME1 = 7/10 - because of gameplay, too much aimless exploration and over burdened with inventory
ME2 = 8/10 - Brilliant in virtually every form except for at times it becoming a shooting gallery
ME3 (EXCLUDING ENDING) = 9/10 - story was fantastic, Shepard felt human, your decisions was feeling like it was having consequence and the gameplay was improved and less of a shooting gallery, only other negative was more linear and less dialogue
ME3 (INCLUDING ENDING) = 6/10 - ends the series on a sour note and makes it feel like an after thought and made no sense whilst making our decisions seem irrelevant especially if you choose destroy

It's one of the best games I ever played, just the ending doesn't work for this game.

I felt this game excluding ending from the OP is probably the best as far as the real feeling of the characters (like how they have conversations that you aren't a part of, they move around the ship, and I LOVE the fact that they want to come on missions with you and even have dialogue for if they didn't come on the mission with you)

Ignoring the ending, I loved it. My only complaint is the "forced" MP play.

Ignoring the ending, this game was fantastic. I really felt like this was what I wanted from the series and could see all the amazing effort that went into it. 99.9% of the time, this was GOTY material.

Great game, As usual the characters were great and the action pretty solid.
In addition it's a emotional rollercoaster as some companions that you like die during the game, it's more darker and gritty and even Shepard shows signs of being tired and doubtful rather then the usual " We can do it, Go Go Go!" ideal which only makes Shepard seem even more genuine.
But alas the endings, while a small portion of the game it is, still leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Not from being gritty and the loss of Shepard, but in therms of quality far inferior compared to the rest of the game.

Specifically, I enjoyed the LI interactions with Ashley (my shep romanced her in ME, and didn't romance anyone in ME2), the sacrifice or betrayal of Mordin, Thane's sacrifice, Legion's "I" moment, Garrus/Shep's trip on the citadel, drunk Tali, all the goodbyes before the last mission, and the final push to the Citadel with no cover. The sacrifices, goodbyes, and the battles made for a excellent conclusion. Pretty much everything except the last 5-10 minutes were 10/10.

It really was the best game I ever played. I was so pleased with how they resolved a lot of things from ME1 and ME2. The highs and lows were wonderful and meaningful. It was very gratifying to see previous choices carry over. I had hoped the ending would be a mix of ME2 (assigning troops to attack the same way we picked squadmate roles in suicide mission) and ME1 (beating the boss and emerging victorious and shaking hands with comrades afterwards with the sense that rebuilding efforts between all races were about to begin).

Mass Effect 3 is an astonishing game. I love all three games in the series and this one I thought was the strongest of the three. It had some amazing interactions with your squad mates that were incredibly touching and personal, especially if you have been with these people for all three games. The moments on Earth where you can talk to everyone and basically say your goodbyes was heartbreaking. The scene where my Shepard and Garrus were at the top of the Presidium and reaffirmed their best friend status was so touching. The story and gameplay was fantastic.
The ending aside, the game was nearly perfect in my opinion. I hated what happened in the end for various reasons that hundreds of people on here have expressed as well or better than I could. That didn't ruin the whole game for me though.

ME3 is pretty damn awesome. Literally couldn't put it down for nigh 30 hours I enjoyed it so much.
Don't even mind the endings THAT much. My main gripe is the lack of an epilogue
I believe that wound constatute having a grip with the ending then, as you found it lacking.

Aside from a couple minor annoyances (mainly the mission journal,) it was pretty much the best game in the series up until the very end. That's what's so frustrating.

I was telling all my friends before the ending that it was a "defining title". Comparing it to other defining titles like LoZ: Ocarina, Super Mario 64, MGS 2, and GTA IV. So you could say, up the ending, I enjoyed it very much.

It made me like Shepard a lot more.
I loved playing a peace maker, and blamming a reaper right in the face or kicking some serious ass across the verse.
Until the last five minutes of the game I would have called it the best ME game period.
However I can not say that at all...since its ending killed that.

I loved the game itself. I thought it improved on everything they got right in ME2 Gameplay wise. Combat was fast paced and exciting, the new powers were badass and dodge rolling will never get old. I loved the weapon and armor customization and the mission variety.
I also loved how alive the Normandy was, being able to walk in on Garrus and James having a pissing contest was definitely a highlight. People moved around and interacted with each other, it was awesome! The fact that the game made me tear up a few times also works in the favor of the writing (Oh Mordin and Legion, how I will miss you). This game made me feel. Excited, sad, angry and at times desperate. Out of the series it is my favorite.
I'm just sad that we didn't get complete story line arcs like I wanted in the end.

hey folks,
i honestly dont understand all the praise of the game. this game has a lot of flaws in my opinion.too action heavy, sloppy animations and unsatisfying story is my main complaint. the ending was just the crown of fail which ruined the to this date best sci-rpg series. the dialogues/story niveau lacked quality and there were little meaningful choices to make. the game isnt terrible but definitely not a 9/10. i agree some things were improved but the really important stuff(which for me is a believable plot and well written catching dialogues) lacked and while i understand that a lot of this is subjective and of course my expectations were high i found the game all in all unsatisfying. im not bashing the game but i find it sad that i feel that way:(
