One of the best games I've played. The combat and customization is all fun. Dialog is excellent in the majority of the game.
I do wish all those artifacts we "discovered" had mission tie-ins with them, I was one who really wanted to see what they could do with better graphics and planetary exploration
If you IGNORE THE ENDING, what are your thoughts on ME3?

Perfect game.
Hey hey hey, I'm not even as big of a fan of Jacob as you are, and I take off points for that and the Thane thing. I have some issues with low resolution graphics on the PC version, and the poor implementation of the PC UI. But overall, I love the game (other than the ending). Perfect...nope. But definitely up there in my favorites.
It's definitely not the first game I love *despite* the crappy ending (see: KOTOR2, VTM: Bloodlines).

I can honestly say that right up till the ending all I was thinking was ''Bioware pulled through'' and ''Why can't games like this sell like CoD''
Right now? I couldn't care less what happens to bioware, they're dead to me. You might say that I overreact and it's just a game but to me it's more. To me it's three games, 200+ usd and 350+hours of gameplay and bioware just STOMPED on me and my efforts to shape my shepard, my story. I'm okay with endings where the protagonist dies as long as we get some closure. Everything that happens after Anderson dies is **** and I wish I could erase it from my memory.

Ignoring the ending? Fantastic despite it's flaws (and it has many). That is a testament in and of itself.
But.....yeah. If only.

Until the moment the stupid AI kid appeared on screen with its ridiculous explanation for the Reapers, the game was AAA for me.

Ignoring the ending, 10.5/10. Best, most moving RPG i have EVER played. With the ending, about an 8/10.

mixed feelings about the ending(s), but tbh leading up to it was a HELLA DOPE experience! you really got the sense of what's going on.

Of-course; ignoring the ending.
By far one of the most moving games ever created, yeah PC had a few texture issues, but it honestly was worth it, the story was unparalleled, all of the choices worked together, to produce this finale, at-least until the ending came along, all of those compliments were threw out the window, so to speak.

If i ignore the terrible endings..
If i do that i'd say the game is quite close to perfect. I absolutely enjoyed the majority of the content and had a blast right up until the endings.

Up until the catalyst, it may have been the best game i ever played, Unfortuantley the ending ruined the possibility of any future playthroughs for my other 4 shepards.

There were a few pieces missing. Overall, fantastic game, but it's glaringly obvious where the focus went. The gameplay and combat was really polished and I liked the upgrade system. Multiplayer feels incredibly repetitive however.
The things that really fell short were continuity, plot devices, pacing, story development and simple story structure. The War Assets aspect is a little flawed as well. I saved the rachni (twice... ugh) with the expectation that I would see rachni ground troops alongside everyone else. Instead, they are reduced to a number in my War Assets. The Queen sent workers to the crucible? That's it? After I saved her race TWICE? And no one in the galaxy really seemed to notice or care that the rachni were around and kicking...
And it wasn't just THE ending that was terribly written. Even the endings to some of the quests just weren't done right. The conclusion to the genophage and Rannoch missions just left me feeling dazed. What the hell happened? Things happened so fast, all I remember is my friend telling me "IT'S THE ONLY WAY AND I'M SORRY" and then they die. It really felt contrived.
I could go on for hours about all the glaring plot holes.

Loved it, but I would be more critical of the game if I didn't play ME1 and ME2.

Gameplay-wise it was hovering around ME2 but with some extra shinies and same inherent flaws as the rest of the ME series. I still find the dialogue wheel and the stupid red/blue dialogue choices limiting and boring but that was obviously not changing.
The quest journal was horrible.
Too much auto dialogue.
The war assets were lame, it would have been fun if they actually had meaning. Getting them was generally even lamer due to planet scanning being a big source of 'em
Planet scanning still a boring chore.
Weapon mods were ok, better weapon variety than in ME2 as well.
The story is what would and could have elevated it and it did in some parts, a lot of them actually, I liked/loved most of the moments with companions, loved Rannoch and Tuchanka.
Kai Leng was a clown though. TIM, I feel, was ruined. Cerberus shouldn't have had as much room in the script as it did imo.
I liked it but I can't say that it's that much better than ME2, and ME1 is still the best one for its story, despite gameplay improvements in the later parts of the series.
And the ending sucked, which I can't ignore.

Without the ending? Hands down, best game I've ever played, #1 favorite. Heck, it still is, I'm just replacing the ending with my own headcanon. At least, I will once I stop bawling my eyes out.
