The closest thing to a boss was killing that one reaper with missiles. ...C'mon I was expecting an epic fight with Harbinger and maybe going inside of him after using the laser to have the entire fleet fire on spot and punching a hole in him. They should have done it like the Collector base where your whole team goes in with you.
Like fight your way to his "core" or something and plant a Nuke there like on Vermire Then, have an epic escape scene while being chased by entire hordes of Husks, cannibals, etc... while THIS is playing.  I can't believe they didn't do anything with him at all.

I'll say that I was disappointed in the lack of Harbinger at the end, but most people didn't like fighting the Human-Reaper Larvae at the end, and copying Sovereign's boss fight from ME would feel cheap. I didn't miss not having a boss fight.

I actually prefer it this way. The Saren-Husk and the T-800 Reaper felt tacked on just for the sake of having final bosses, to the detriment of the story. If ME1 just ended with Saren shooting himself, followed by Sovereign exploding, I think it would be a better ending.

Yeah, I for one always hate final boss fights. They pretty much never seem to be done right. I was glad ME3 didn't have one. ^^

the final boss was TIM, and it only took one bullet to take him own. maybe thats why you forgot about the last boss. it didnt follow the bullet sponge philosophy.

Maybe not a final boss, but I hate how Harbinger has been such a nuisance throughout the second game and a threat in the third yet we don't even get to face him (other than facing a giant laser from him)

I like how in ME2, all the reapers look different (they all have different styles), are more vocal, etc...

...and in ME3, you talk only to one. Harbringer only shows up for a few seconds (simply different 'eye' colors) and all the reapers HAVE THE SAME MODELS.

I found getting bombarded by brutes and banshees to be challenging enough. No need to shoehorn in a boss fight just to have one.

Yeah, that end fight was tough enough. Don't really need to dodge laser beams or fight another avatar or some such to really gain any further satisfaction.

The final boss for Mass Effect 3 ran away in terror at the ending of the game.

The final boss in ME3 is fighting bioware for the good ending.

It's not the lack of a final boss battle per say that bugged me, even though it does feel a little weird that the game goes on for another 90 minutes after the Kai Leng fight.

What really bugged me (apart from everything else that's wrong with the ending obviously) was that Shepard was alone for the final moments of the game. Sure the boss battles of previous games felt a little tacked on (I liked them anyway), but they gave Shepard a reason to have his squad with him. Shepard's whole character is built around the fact that he's a leader who can inspire people to follow him into Hell, so to see him, alone, for the final moments of the game just felt off.

I wouldn't have minded fighting Harbinger by collecting nuke guns on a field and firing them at the weak spot while dodging reaper ground forces and Harbinger's attacks. Because let's be honest, blowing up that AA gun felt awesome.

Fighting 3 banshees, 5 brutes, and cannibals while dodging a laser is enough of a boss fight for me. I kinda think "boss fights" are tacky anyways. Look at Halo 1, perfect execution: Rocket these 4 nodes. Now do it while under constant attack by unending forces. Now add a time limit. Now add dialogue taunting you the whole time.

It would have been nice to blow up harbinger, I really have no idea why he was even a part of the story, he could have been a nameless reaper voice and never have been missed.

I also think a problem with a lot of games is boss fights sometimes come off as unnecessary they feel show horned in everything flowed pretty well in this game....

Until you get a generic ending that answers 0 lingering questions, and a little boy that rambled so much you lost track of what's going on.

Sounds reasonable. The whole thing is an IRL ARG meta-game.
