I played Infiltrator and Vanguard on Insanity and both were equally easy imho. Infiltrator was more fun to play for me, so I would recommend that class.

Adept spec'd for combos does not need to fire a gun. You can take out enemies in bunches every two or three seconds through combos / biotic explosions. I'm about to do "Priority: Rannoch" and the only enemies that were a tad frustrating were the Banshees that close in a bit too quickly if they go straight for Shepard and not the squad, Grenades if you still need time to recharge health and shields, and Turrets that shred you up if caught in the open, otherwise not much is a bother so far.

Here's how I've spec'd my Adept:

Warp maxed: Lvl 4 Detonate, Lvl 5 Lasting Damage, Lvl 6 Recharge Speed
Throw maxed: Lvl 4 Force, Lvl 5 Combo, Lvl 6 Double Throw
Singularity maxed: Lvl 4 Duration, Lvl 5 Lift Damage, Lvl 6 Expand

I practically use these three powers exclusively. I use Warp/Throw Combos the most, followed by Singularity/Throw combos. And if I got husks in my face, I use Throw a few times or a Singularity.

Biotic Mastery maxed: Lvl 4 Damage & Force, Lvl 5 Damage & Cap, Lvl 6 Combo Mastery
Fitness maxed: Lvl 4 Durability, Lvl 5 Barrier Recharge, Lvl 6 Fitness Expert

And get Inferno Armor as early as you can. You get a 30% to Recharge and a 30% to Power Damage. I haven't calculated yet if it's overkill yet, but that's what I've used so far. Then I use the Broker Intel Packets to spec for Power Damage when I get the choice, early on I choose Power Recharge on two, which was before I got the Inferno Armor.

I've also maxed Shockwave and Pull as I've leveled up, but I don't use them very often and can't remember how I spec'd them. And I've got Cluster Grenade and Energy Drain at rank three ATM. I've only used Pull on Guardians when I encounter them, and I've tried Shockwave a handful of times, but I'm on the 360 and don't like having to bring up the power wheel to select them, when a Warp/Throw is faster even if the Warp gets dodged every now and then, and that dodge does keep the enemy from shooting or advancing for a moment.

Vanguard is pretty easy. Nova > Nova > Charge. Repeat until everything is dead.

Soldier is easiest by far, you are correct OP. Other classes require more skill, as they do not posses the fire power of soldier.

Well, my first playthrough was on insanity with an adept. I found it to be a bit over the top powerful too. You can pretty much lift/throw combo everything clearing a field of enemies within seconds with the double shots. Just bring a long partners to help with shields mostly. Your warp will take down armor, and only carry one lightweight weapon. You barely need to fire a shot anyway.

Depends on how you play them. I always thought infiltrator was the class that rewarded you most for skills but required the least to succeed.

It's almost always possible to cloak and move to a safe location, fire a few shots and powers, and repeat. You can even shoot and use powers without being seen. Infiltrators can play it safe, more so than any other class.

I thought playing Engineer would be easy again but somehow I was wrong. I beaten ME2 on the insane mode but ME3, seems harder for that class. Or I just lost my edge !

I was not too impressed with my engineer's performance on insanity either. What's the point in having both turrets and drones if they just go splat immediately?

The other engineer skills are great though. Sabotage combos are awesome.

I had zero issues playing an engineer on Insanity but my main damage came from Javik's Dark Chamber and Liara's Warp. Plus due to the immense amount of unprotected enemies I could freeze and burn everything. I became even stronger when I kicked Javik and used Dark Chamber myself.

Engineer drones aren't all that great, but incinerate/overload/sabotage rules. Spec for those, it kills everything, don't even need squadmates.

Truth be told, as this thread shows, pretty much all the classes are viable for a good run on insanity. Personally, I think the hardest to play is Vanguard, just because early on before you really flesh out your talents it's pretty easy to die from even a minor miscalculation. Infiltrator will give you a fun, solid run through. Personally, I found it easiest to do as an adept.

The reason is simple. Adepts have great damage and great control. Singularity can be used as a sort of "barrier" to prevent enemies from using certain lines to advance, or can be used on tight groups of multiple enemies. Pull - warp is the combo I used the most because the pull cooldown is shorter than that of singularity, it allowed me to use singularity as a fantastic control, and because you can take the double projectile talent for awesome effect.

It's also helpful to make sure you're team is balanced. An adept does remarkably well, but this is enhanced by keeping someone in the party that can use overload. I liked to switch out between Garrus and Kaiden. I tend to lead towards Garrus because maxing out his armor piercing ammo and giving him a sniper rifle makes him a seriously useful teammate. Then, almost without exception, I brought Vega on all my missions. His incendiary ammo provided insane control beyond what I all ready had, and the teammate AI is good enough that he quite naturally tended to take out the flankers while I disposed of point. The grenades are nice too.

IMO the dream team for insanity is adept, Garrus/Kaiden, Vega. But once again, a lot of it depends on how you play. If you don't like arcing powers, or really like shooting a gun, it's probably better to do something else. What I like about THAT team is that it's not just the adept that doesn't shoot his gun much. Your enemies will rarely get off a shot too.

(The exception I make on Vega is playing the Geth. For that I use what I've called my "super tech tag team" of Tali and Garrus. Between a hard hitting overload, energy drain, and sabotage, this team will complement ANY class versus the Geth).

^Really?

I always take Liara. Two biotics kill insanely fast.

Oh, you're right, they do. The reason I don't bring another biotic is because I feel identical powers is just less interesting. The main plus to this is "instant" biotic combos. You cast singularity, liara casts warp instantly, bam, or switch it around. However, Liara can't arc her powers, and I just like being able to arc everything. Especially pull. Arching duel casting pull is just monstrous. And also, I like grenades.

I'm having an easy time so far with my 1 Person Squad Engineer. I went pretty much by the book and spec'd myself for Drone Mastery, my Drone for damage and rockets and my Turret for damage and Flamethrower. This way you can keep your Combat Drone back out of harm's way and have it still do work and your Turret stuns anyone who gets close with the flame to keep itself and the whole squad alive. Both actually do considerably more damage than I'd have expected too.

Oh and to top it off is Sabotage, spec'd for hacking more than backfiring (though the backfiring is also a life saver). Those are my main three powers and Defense Matrix, Decoy or Defense Drone would all fit this build perfectly as far as bonus powers go. It's very tactical and fun and allows me to get in close like I love to do (hate sitting back) albeit more cautiously than, say, a Sentinel would.

So far so good!

Just completed an insanity playthrough on Adept, my squad is Liara and Javik. It was an absolute joke, nowhere near as tough as Adept was in ME2. Fun, though. Just wish there were more enemies for me to toss around.

Personally I dont like playing games on the highest difficulty. I find the frustration incredibly irritating. With the Vanguard its so easy its almost not fair.

First play through on normal and get enough talent points to unlock Charge and Nova to lvl 6. Choose the options that make them deal more dmg and force up to lvl 6. At lvl 6 choose Barrier for Charge and Pierce for Nova. Also unlock Cryo rounds and Inferno Rounds to lvl 2. As well as Assault Mastery and Fitness to at least lvl 3 or 4. Cryo rounds are for the Scorpion and Inferno rounds are for the Tempest with a lvl 5 Light Material Mod at which point it weighs nothing.

Then change the difficulty to insanity and it will feel like easy. Fire a few rounds with the Scorpion and Charge the first enemy it freezes. Pull out your Tempest and Charge again. Then use Nova and immediately Charge. Your shields will almost instantly return to 100%. Spray a few inferno rounds rounds around for measure then Nova rinse repeat.

Only issue I found is this combo works on every enemy in the game which makes it get a little old towards end. The only time death is even a remote possibility is against a Banshee or Brute. As long as the Banshee or Brute is the target of all your Biotic Charges (simply back up afterwards and Charge during there attacks) death should not be an issue.

I'd think a sentinel would be great, what with his tech armor and barriers.

I like the Sentinel a lot more than most do in this game, but there is much skill point planning and restriction on weapon choice you have to put on yourself if you want to be efficient with powers and not get your ass kicked on insanity.

This. Sentinel provides that you have something for any situation but you need to plan a bit more than most classes. Its still doable and well worth it.

Oh I know its doable firsthand, I just wouldn't say its the best class for beating insane, despite the fact that I have not yet tried any other classes.

I would just say that there are considerable restrictions on weapon choice and certain perks you simply must take to have the class function similar to the ME2 Sentinel, which I can tell just by browsing the perk trees of other classes is not the case with them.

judging from the opinions here, it seems an insanity play through with each class can be summarized as the following:

-Adept-you're a ****in Jedi; so long as you roll with soldiers as your squad mates you'll be fine. Definitely the most passive/aggressive playstyle IMO. If you love star wars...

-Soldier-Easy, but neglecting the biotic and tech badassery leaves you feeling bored and empty unless you are VERY easily entertained. Might as well go play Gears of War/CoD

-Vanguard-The most fun IMO, but on Insanity, its a very high risk/high reward experience. I personally have had my highest highs and lowest lows with this class. But overall, I think you'll find that a situation will either be to easy or to hard.

-Sentinel-moderate, Probably the MOST rewarding class seeing as they can do everything well but nothing great. Forces you to play more strategic but without sacrificing the combat experience. I did my first playthrough with them and loved it. Offers the most flexibility in terms of squad mates.

-Engineer-People seriously use this class??? jk

-Infiltrator-From experience, the easiest class to use but not necessarily the most fun (imo). Snipers and anyone who loves splinter cell/assassins creed will probably love this class. The harry potter cloak, while awesome, kinda feels like a cheat at times. And the combat style is slower paced.

I could be biased, Sentinel just really fits my playing style. Whatever class you pick make sure its something that fits your play style.

I had a fun time beating the game on insanity with my Inflitrator. Seemed too easy with the invisible cloak.
