would it work if i just include a script in conversation to give the player the item and raised a plot flag for the quest to be finished on the following line?

It would be even easier to set the plot flag on the line in question then put the reward in the plot script.

No reason why a custom reward table wouldn't work, though. I've tested every aspect extensively. If you're going to build more quests eventually, it would probably be quicker to get this working than debug a bunch of custom scripts.

i haven't exactly gotten my main module script to work yet. Also what of the other script in the tut? does that also go into the main mod script? Ugh, i feel like a total idiot when it comes to scripting... Forget coding. lol

Best practice with the rewards table depends on whether you're extending the OC or building a standalone campaign.

When extending the OC, you do want to choose higher line numbers. You can reserve a range of numbers to avoid conflict with other mods. Although no one's done that yet for this particular table, it's good practice.

Your table should be an M2DA which contains only the two headers and your custom lines. That way, your rewards are merged with the OC and any other mods without conflict.

On the other hand, if you're making a standalone campaign, it's convenient to overwrite the 2DA with one that contains only the headers and your rewards. After all, you're never going to need the OC rewards. By placing your 2DA in the module override folder (as the wiki says), you ensure that your 2DA doesn't conflict with other campaigns.

You might want to raise your script queries in the Scripting forum. You can post snippets if they're not working. I'm not sure which script you're referring to, off the top of my head.
