So I just finished my first play threw a few days ago and noticed that I never saw Thane, but then all of a sudden Joker said he died so I decided to google how he dies and apparently he is supposed to sho up and save the Salarian counciler. Thane survived my ME2 but for some reason he did not show up to save the counciler, instead the counciler gets killed and then at some random point Thane's name appears on the Normandy's Memorial.

Fix please? :(

Did you visit him when he sent you an Email to your private terminal? He may have not shown up, because you didn't visit and speak with him. Instead of dying in the aforementioned way, he may have just succumbed to Keprals Syndrome.

I have the similar issue. I got Thanes invite, but was only intending to go to the Citadel after I finished the galactic quests I had open, as well as explore all the available systems and clusters. Seems like, if I don't go to the Citadel before going to Tuchanka (or the summit meeting) I return to a Citadel invaded by Cerberus, which means the solarian councilor needs saving. So in the import playthrough, I lose Captain Kirahe (STG guy from Virmire), because he takes the bullet.

So it seems we are being punished for our lake of diligence or forethought. I hope BW fixes it with a patch so that we can visit Thane even after the Cerberus attack.

P.S.
I play on PC, I'm only replying here because it is the only open thread about the issue.

I think what BioWare was trying to do is put forth a sense of urgency in everything you do. You are in the middle of a galactic war! :D Thane, as you know, has Kepral's Syndrome and is in its final stages so it makes sense that after the attack he may already be dead, or died thereafter. I think it is well done the way they have it. Your decisions really do affect the game in profound ways.

i'll check my messages but I dont even remember getting anything from him. All I remember is that when I did get messages to return to the Citadel it was right as Cerberus was attacking.

You kind of have to check your mail on your own. At least, that's what I had to do. Traynor only seemed to tell me I had mail like every third or fourth time I actually did. Okay, it wasn't seemed, she didn't tell me I had mail as often as I did. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know. But I almost missed talking to Aria at all because I didn't see the note until after I chanced into her cutscene in the bar.

In this instance, unless a patch addresses it, I have to suggest using the right stick to access the map when you're on the Citadel. For the most part, it'll show you who is were and you can use that to find people you need to talk to, whether to finish a fetch quest or to advance a side plot.
