I sympathize with TIM. And frankly I would have done the exact same in his situation.

Uh, become indoctrinated and almost screw humanity?

Because of the right ideas, yes.

I didn't agree with Illusive Man on some points, well most points, I was a full paragon for all the games, but when "I" invaded the Cerberus base and if he was there I told myself I "would" not kill him. Don't ask me why, I really have no idea, maybe it was 'cause he "saved" Shepard, but then all for not really :(

And Saran was not really bad to begin with, he was the best Specter etc, etc.  But both were, there chooses were all not entirlely theirs, TIM was more, unless he was infected more or less, 'cauese he was around Repaers etc as much as Shep was.

A man chooses, a slave obeys

But in all essence, both needed to be dealt with in some form or another.

Sympathetic villian? Neither. Thane could be seen as a villain in some eyes, hired to kill people. In that case, he is the most sympathetic villain.

I loved Harbinger but he really only has one moment of fame in Mass Effect 3.  Though I think his voice is awesome in ME 2.  I personally think Harbinger and Sovereign had a thing going on, that is why Harbinger keeps stalking you in ME2, so he can avenge his lover's death.

Hahahaha. Awesome. I was pretty unhappy Harbinger was MIA for the most part. He was the perfect nemesis for Shepard. They had the history; they had the fights and threats; he even had a cameo in the Arrival DLC. I so, so wanted that to be how Shep went out (in one of the endings). Blowing himself and Harbinger to Hell via the Crucible, saying something kitchy like, "I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my universe, you son of a ****."

Harbinger

He gets cheated out of a final boss battle
Doesn't even get to talk
and his whole race is turned into the goon squad of a dumdass Starchild god

That's exactly why there is a 99.9% chance that future DLC will 'rectify' the endings. It's the only hope we have.

Harbinger spends 10 minutes calling out the plot holes, and incostent logic of the Star Child before killing the little sob

then Assumes Direct Control the Citadel for a final Battle!

“We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.”The REAPERS SIMPLY ARE! THEY NEED NO REASON!

Saren because he's a turian and if I chose TIM that one guy on the Citadel would call me racist.

Also, Saren just because I straight up liked him more. And by the end of ME2 I was telling er'ryone who'd listen that TIM was indoctrinated (I'm sure others probably figured it out before me, but I played ME2 before ME1 so I didn't even know about the whole "indoctrination" thing for a while). So I was expecting something like the TIM ending scene for a long time. I guess because of that, I wasn't that surprised and was basically just clicking around going "Uh huh, Uh huh, shoot yourself already or let me do it."

But when Saren did it I actually felt bad. I wish he could have become an ally. =(

Saren but I didn't really feel a lot of sympathy for either.

Saren all the way... even though I am biased through the books/comics... he was a bada** renegade Specter, and he got redemption for himself through his final act of deviance (most powerful scene in ME1).

Saren, definitely.

"Goodbye, Shepard. Thank you.". Made me feel sorry for him, despite his actions.

Hard to choose as they both turn out right.

I'd have to go with TIM. It's odd how strong a case he makes, at least at times, makes him feel a lot more like a shades-of-gray kind of guy than Saren.

If it's between TIM and Saren, I'd say TIM. Both were reprehensible, but as it turns out TIM might have had the right idea, he was simply the wrong person for it. Saren's plan was to be useful and maybe we'd be spared death and just be slaves, but that outcome was never in the cards. TIM's solution of trying to control the Reapers was at least one of the final options.

They both thought what they were doing could somehow save the galaxy. But, they were both indoctrinated so it was a lie until the end. They are both tragic hero's imo.

Some are saying Shepard went down the same path in the ending.

I felt sympathetic for Saren. I hated TIM in. I still almost cried when he shot himself.

This. And he was actually trying to combat the Reapers in his own brutal way, rather than just serve them in hopes for mercy, like Saren.
I sympathized for Saren a bit, but in the end, he was a coward. TIM almost beat the Reapers in his own way. Almost. He actually adapted their technology for his own use, and it seemed to me that he almost escaped indoctrination. He was power hungry though, and that cost him in the end.

I think I prefer shooting him, so I can hear his beautiful last line... and frankly, if TIM shoots himself, he just seems too much like Saren for my tastes.

But I've always liked TIM, even if he is a manipulative b@$****** sometimes.
