Is anyone feel lost of when to get and when to turn in side quest? Sometimes when looking at my quest log i dont know if i gotten the item for the quest and it is ready to turn in. NPC dont give me any direction of where the item is at or when i can turn it in. Sometimes it will tell me to go to a system that is not even available yet which is weird. my automated turret quest tell me to go to the citadel to see who can use them and im going to the guy that needs em but apprently he dont cause he not letting me return this quest in. why would the quest hournal tell me to go there but there is no one there thats needs them yet.

some of my quest are broken too like hanar quest with kosmi, i would really like to finish that quest

Well, we are in the same boat, however, it is not a technical, but a game design issue.

i also hate it when it does not tell you to finish this quest before you leave the planet cause it will fail when you leave (but it does not tell you it failed it sits open on your quest log). my eden prime quest i did not know there was three things i needed to pick up. so i finished eden prime and i cant go back to eden prime to get the last one. a counter 2/3 would of been nice

The quest journal sucks. Why they changed it the way they did I will never understand. In the first 2 games you always knew what needed to be done and where to go to start or end a mission. In ME3, confusion abounds.  I also much preferred the "press B to end mission" at the end of side quests in ME2.  During ME3 I was running around the whole map before doing what was needed just to make sure I didn't miss anything because you never knew when the mission would end, preventing you from picking up any items laying around.

I agree the journal is nowhere near as informative as it used to be. This is one area of the game that I would say got a downgrade.

Yep the journal is very confusing. Also find the galaxy map is useless for finding the locations of side quests

This is not too blame bioware because this is how you have to learn to deal with it. Many missions you get you only can complete later on in the game. This means you can get a mission early on in the game but the item needed can sometimes takes you through 1 or more prioirity (main missions) missions to the item on a certain planet becomes available to scan (this is a example of one sort type of mission).

If your needing more help i suggest to visit the wikia:

I hope i could be of help on the subject and if you don't get it just simply let us know because we are here too help each other Image IPB

I also struggled with this, but the key was to scan every available system in the game and to check back with the citadel as frequently as you find things. Also try to complete as many side quests as possible before moving on with the central story. The previous game's journal system was much more manageable in my opinion.

Agreed, the journal system used in 3 is a step back. All you can do is regularly go back to the Citadel and check your maps - if there is a character on there you don't recognise (eg Asari War Strategist) then just go speak to them. Or if you just wander around and the blue crosshair appears over a character, speak to them then. I find the whole thing a bit hit and miss. And they really need to fix the journal bug, a bit annoying that one.
