Like many users, I am not pleased by the endings. That is to say, the lack of choices in the end. These choices would be great if there were other options to consider as well, especially one that didn't involve destroying the Relays. The Citadel being gone I'd understand.

However, I think the amount of grievances may very well get lost in the sea of anger making all of us seem like we're entitled. Granted, that is not what we want to be viewed as. Miracle of Sound exemplified it well I think saying that we're not wanting an ending that we deserve, nor are we entitled, we just want the ending that Mass Effect deserves. I can only speak for myself, but the way I see it, I feel as if this is the best way to describe the fans' reactions. I feel as if the series needs its send off.

The fundamental core of the game comes down to choice, the Catalyst seemed too much like the Architect from the Matrix offering two equally bad choices: the Bubonic Plague or Swine Flu. Both are terrible and both have far reaching consequences. It's all a matter of picking your poison with the Catalyst's choices. Though, in comparing the Matrix to these endings, why couldn't Shepard do like Neo and convince the Catalyst that a peace could be achieved? If in Fallout 3 a Wastelander can convince an AI to kill itself, then why can't Shepard tell the Catalyst that it's wrong to dictate the affairs of the galaxy based on simple arithmatic and mere calculations?

I could understand getting these choices if you simply weren't prepared enough or if you chose one side over the other in regards to the Quarian-Geth war. That would definitely add replayability, or let's assume that the Collector Base played a major role like it was hinted it would in ME2's ending, it'd give better war assets and access to more weapons. I'd have reason to go back and try again.

Liara goes through the trouble of compiling a list about the Reapers, so why couldn't we have gotten a dialogue explaining our choices and the far reaching consequences of losing the Relays? If Shepard lived, why couldn't (s)he narrate the end? If the Catalyst needed an organic, then couldn't Anderson have made the sacrifice, giving you the call to say "Hey! Don't do this!" before he gives you a reason why it should be HIM to make the call? Or have The Illusive Man give you the ability to control the Reapers via your implants. A third ending proposed through some transhumanist or something, granted this would require an intro to a new character.

I don't know, I just hope I got the issues compiled into a coherent manner. If anyone wants to add to it, please feel free.
