A happy ending option would not be any better. It's the entire ending that is bad, not the specific choices. A detailed analysis would take too long, and there are already a lot of huge rants, so I'll sum it up briefly:
Everything after the elevator is poorly written. The Guardian did not need to exist, the entire premise of the "A.I. is bad" message is totally unrelated to the rest of the series, and the options given to resolve the problem they invented at the last minute make no sense.
The whole thing is contradictory, lazy, and the very definition of deus ex machina.
Just to be clear.

Yeah, it's not the part that it doesn't go down the way I had hoped it would that makes me angry. I wish it would be a happy ending but I would applaud an ending with major losses. The plotholes on the other hand is just a big fail and the whole ending was pretty lazy and short all in all.
