Not only does it leave unanswered questions at the end, it makes the supposed "perfect" choice 'Synthesis' feel like it was just smashed right in.
Is this cycle what really what the master of the Reapers wanted, what it desired? What about the rest of the universe?
Going from that logic, in order for this system of extinction and harvesting to work, it should exist in nearly every galaxy in the universe, with something else unimaginably above the scale of a Reaper fleet to enforce it. You can't underestimate the nearly incomprehensible scale of the universe. Otherwise, what is keeping the very problem the the Reaper cycle is trying to prevent from appearing elsewhere in the universe and endangering it as a whole?

It shouldn't have been explained at all. Every Reaper contained millions of individual minds, with one consciousness. Having a reason simple enough for us to understand is just insulting.
