Why aren't the devs engaging in damage control?
What's with the silence?

Because the best damage control they have at the moment is silence. If they say anything official, it will be broadcast on the gaming news outlets, who have already demonstrated a lack of integrity by not warning us about the terrible ending, and are likely willfully holding their silence so that they don't ****** off EA.
If BioWare doesn't say anything official, our complaints can be written off as "self important forum lurkers."

Not everyone plays as fast as we. They'll probably wait for more people to finish game and then say something. Otherwise they'd spoil many players.

Believe me normally Devs work weekends, atleast Saturday mornings. Bioware I am super slapped all team members with a stfu or get fired. I am just shocked no one jumped the shark earlier and said oh you are all going to hate the ending.

There's a specific process that has to be completed for releasing information to the public, especially regarding something like this. Here's a few hypothetical situations:
1.) Random BioWare/EA employee comments here and gets ripped to shreds. No matter what he/she says, the employee will get torn up.
2.) Random BioWare/EA dev comments: Heads will roll. If the dev said that the the ending was a hallucination/dream/indoc and that more information will be sent via DLC, the people who liked the ending (all 7 of them) will start up. If the dev said that the ending was set in stone and that the DLC only enhances the story prior to the ending, a riot would occur.
If either of those two happened, not only would BioWare/EA have to perform damage control on the employee's comments, they would also have to coordinate a response to our unhappiness with the ending (still) while working on Patch 1 to fix some bugs and also trying to release the game in various markets that don't even have it yet.
I can really only see two possible situations from BioWare:
1.) BioWare/EA doesn't respond to anything, future DLC only enhances the story prior to the ending, and ME4 or the bridge book(s) elaborate on how the galaxy has been impacted by Shepard's actions.
2.) BioWare/EA responds by telling us that a future DLC will expand upon the ending and will deliver closure to the storyline.
I would put my money on #1. Even though I wouldn't actually put my money on anything ever produced by BioWare/EA ever again if that were the case.
EDIT: Also, how many people have actually finished the game? I finished Friday night with 29 hours played, averaging roughly 7.5 hours a night. What about casual gamers, people who have multiple jobs, families, etc., or those people over on the other side of the pond who haven't even had the game released yet.

Also, the game has JUST been released in a few other countries.. my guess is that they're giving people a bit more time to also experience it. I'm really choosing to believe that Bioware will do the right thing and acknowledge this at least.
