I know I posted this as a reply on another thread but this solution works so well that I have posted it again here so that as many people as posssible will be aware of it.

Use Pinnacle Game Profiler. You can download and use it for free on a 30 day trial from here pinnaclegameprofiler.com/downloads After that you have to register it and it costs 20$

I have just downloaded and installed it and am using the profile as explained at pinnaclegameprofiler.com/forum/showthread.php
and it works brilliantly. The controller layout is pretty much exactly
the same as the xbox version of the game (or even identical - I'm not
sure).

The keyboard and mouse play are unaffected when playing with the controller so you get the best of both worlds.

Even if you are not going to pay for Pinnacle I strongly recomend this. You can at least have 30 days controller usage.

I am
going to pay after the 30 days as I doubt if I will have finished ME3
by then and I also am going to create a configuration to play Star Wars
TOR as well.

It is pretty lame that there is no native support
for gamepads in the game. However, in a way I am not that bothered now
as this setup works excellently and I will now be able to play my older
PC games and mmos like WoW etc using a controller and I would not have
discovered how to do this otherwise.
