Seems like pretty strong evidence that the endings we got were not the original intention. This dialouge would make zero sense, otherwise.

EDIT: Didn't see the other thread. Please disregard and lock.

Was that cut or just something that happens if you don't romance anyone. Judging by the dialogue it seems to fit that scenario.

It's fairly well known that the ending we got was not the ending that was originally intended. Originally, the reaper motivation would have been preventing the destruction of the universe from Dark Energy. The choice at the end would have been between saying "thanks, but no thanks, we can handle that ourselves" and destroying the reapers (Paragon ending) or submitting and letting humanity become a reaper/reapers (Renegade ending). In my mind, the new reaper would be named Shepard.

I don't know, it would have been a wonderful extra kick in the balls had it been included.

Then WTF didn't they just go with that ending.  That would at least make sense and would be decent if not done well.

Because EA scewed up and accidentally leaked the BETA demo months prior to its release... And some guy hacked into the game and leaked the ending. In a desperate attempt, Bioware changed the story during the last minute.. Which is exactly why we ended up with this craphole of an ending..

Wow. They clearly had so much more planned, if not completed. Why did they second guess themselves?

I lost it when I listened to this...I thought the moment was incredibly emotional even in the shortened version we got, but to see that it could've been this? Unforgivable. Who in there right mind would dream of cutting this??
