It's strange, but it feels great. Anyone else try this yet?
Despite The Endings, I've Started Playing Mass Effect 1 Again.

I'm toying with the idea. I'm optimistic about some sort of change to the endings, so perhaps it's that. I'm going to wait a few days, however, to see if anything comes up on the forums or twitter.

I couldn't. Especially knowing how everyone ends up in the end. Like, I know YOU gon' get shot by Udina, YOU are gon' jump off a cliff, and YOU, well, end up on an island alone with two dudes after ditching me for dead.

I replayed 1 & 2 the weeks before 3 came out (in fact, I finished 2 almost at the stroke of midnight on release night: great timing!) On the down side, it made the ending to 3 hit me even harder
I was pleasantly surprised at how well Mass Effect 1 still plays. And then it leaps to even better in 2.

The ending kills any want or need for me to play the previous games or future DLC. Whats the point really? Relays will still be destroyed in the end and everyone will be back to square one.

I went back and played part of ME2 again, because one of my characters didn't import properly into the third installment and I wanted to see how her romance would play out. It was grueling. I'm normally a completionist, going through every system one by one to get 100% - even if all that involves is clicking on the planets to read their descriptions. This time I couldn't force myself to do it.. I got a few of them done, there weren't that many left since the save was five hours before the end, but I eventually just couldn't force myself anyone.
Still I loved ME1 and ME2, so given a few months I'm sure I'll be able to go back and play them over again. I think the trick for me is going to be substituting my own headcanon for the ending of ME3, so at least I feel that I'm working towards something and that my choices are going to matter.

Me and my fiance started playing again from the start. It's fun. It's great. It still doesn't change the crap ending. We are pretending the ending never occurred, as well as the fact our decisions are null and void from the two games before the third installment.
I am delusional but content.

I will, I think. Not now. Like from many I've heard, I really don't feel up to playing any game at all for the next few days after beating the game just over twelve hours ago. However, I am determined to not let the ending ruin the fun I had getting there. So, I can definitely see myself playing again.

In my head, the end is when he and Anderson are talking. Shepard uses the weapon and the reapers get down. That is my ending. So yes, I started a new game on ME1 to do all different choices. In this case I don´t care about the ending, just the road.
If in the time that I get to ME3 again, all initiatives work or Bioware reveals that there is a real ending it will be perfect.

I was playing 1 and 2 exactly before 3 came out, I finished ME2 an hour before the midnight release of ME3 so it was a quick transition. Then i saw the endings and I felt like the entire week was wasted not to mention all the other times I played the game.
But yeah going back to ME1 or ME2 at this point is just reminiscing of happier times.
The destination sucked so all you have left is the journey, might as well relive those.

I'm also in favor of pretending like my headcanon is the actual ending. My ME3 ending is Shepard running into the Reaper base with guns blazing.

Mass Effect 1 is the best self contained story in the series. Its a complete experience from start to finish and in my mind is easily better than mass effect 2 in that regard. Honestly, if somebody could change the programing to allow squad members in mass effect 1 to use Shepard's line of sight when using manual ability control it would play pretty well too. Normally I use auto powers in mass effect 1 to avoid hearing "I can't see the target" about a million times. Also ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!

Doing that and ME3 as the mood takes me.
