We need to stop with the "we want a brighter ending", What we really wany is a better structured ending that is logically consistant within the universe we are in.  I personnely dont want a 'brighter' ending I want a better ending.

You must have totally misinterpreted everything everyone's said.

Still, your intentions are good. Join the club.

It needs both... that's what Mass Effect has always been about. It should be your choice if you want a happy ending, sad ending, whether Shepard goes down as a martyr or an old war hero that settles down with his LI.

We need that stupid little kid to never show up after the last nightmare. We need something that makes sense.

why is it so bad to hope for bright ending? Isn't it kinda logical that after you put everything to get the better ending... you want to see the happy life of Shepard... cuz we all know out of all character, he deserves it

Reaper win ending, that would have been cool too, having too litle war assests should have made this ending possible.

I want the ending where my dog dies, I get 1,000,000 gold and everyone hates me. sorry, I thought this was the Fable 2 forum.

I want the ending where Shepard performs the "Dark Ritual" with Morrigan on the eve of battle and avoids death.

How about the end where we kick Reaper-ass. Take a quick look around while everyone realizes how bad-ass we are and then run the frack out of Kirkwall.

Seriously, I don't mind the ending. I don't mind changing th fabric of reality. Leave the ending as-is. What I want is a decent funeral for Shepard. Someone say a few words please. Anyone.

Agree with OP wholeheartedly. I don't NEED a happy sunshine ending. Would be nice. But I want the option. I would take a Shep dies ending if it made some DARN SENSE! But give us a choice.

If you showed someone the last 10 to 15 minutes of Mass Effect 3 and none of the other series moments they would have thought the series was something much different than it was.

I support a wide range of endings, although I think the "Disney" ending shouldn't be easily obtainable. What should dictate that should run as far back as Mass Effect 1.

Kind of like how the Quarian/Geth missions work. If you don't have certain prerequisites from the last games, you are unable to unify the geth and quarians.

There should also always be at least a bit of bitter mixed in with the sweet, to show that it's not just a fairy tale, happily ever after ending.

Yes.  An ending that follows the logic of what has happened is a must.  Endings that are actually different, also a must.  Something that actually is bright rather than, "it's hopeful if you look at it the right way" would also be nice.  Not necessarily required like the first two, but nice.

I totally get that I was supposed to feel hopeful knowing that my crew would start anew on an untainted planet without the Reapers, but somehow that feeling is lost when I see Tali walk off the Normandy and realize this means she'll never get home.

You may actually want to read the opinions of what folks want than just narrowing your focus on how someone worded a poll.

Also try looking at a poll this is, one might say, a little more comprehensive

Thing is every ME title has allowed us to have multiple different outcomes, both good AND bad. THIS time around however it just feels we're left with variations of bad. Sure, you can chalk synthesis up to being some version of good, but most of the ME universe is still royally f***ed by it. Control ending is just NOT something Shepard would do, ever. Even the most Renegade Shep still wanted nothing more than to Destroy the Reapers. The Destroy ending is the closest [imho] to a good ending and even then, not great by any means.
Point is, we've always had a multitude of choices that left everyone with some ending they liked.
Nothing wrong with those wanting a dark, bleak ending or a merger, and definately nothing wrong with those of us that want some happiness for our Shep and LI and friends and blah, blah [nothing we've not already stated]...in the end, just no variety.
You can't sell me a broken car and slap either a shiny Blue, Red or Green coat of paint on it and me see it as anything but.

I think even if I were to get my "Disney" ending, it would still be bittersweet. I mean, how many friends and companions die during the whole trilogy?
Its not like everyone gets out unscathed.
But I still think my Shepard has sacrificed enough, and deserves to sit down, rest, and be happy.

I'm all for a "Disney" ending though.
That being said, I left out in my earlier post that regardless of the rancid taste in most of our mouths after the ending...the hours spent up til' that point are some of the best.

Still need to fix the mess of an end though. ^^

I don't need a perfect disney ending, a lot of Shepard' friends died along the way, so it was never going to be perfect. I just wanted Shepard to finally find peace without dying. To be able to relax and have beers with her friends and toast to fallen comrades. To go on a long vacation with her love, though I would like that, she probaly help rebuild earth in stiches and slings. I wanted to see Shepard be a part of the new world she help shaped.

I think the vast majority of us are on that same page with you.
Hopefully all our speaking out will get through to Bioware and we'll finally hear something about this and maybe our taking a stand will get us something similar.

Welcome the club... I have stated before there 16 endings in this game...all pretty much the same. Its not about getting a Happy ending its about getting an ending the fits the tone of the narrative present and its not complete half ass. These endings are lazy and make no sense. Even The Catalyst reasoning behind do what he is doing makes no sense. Its completely made invalid by the end and Shepard who as been all about spitting in the wind and not getting just goes along with it. It always invalidates.. ME 1 and Sovereign. Its almost like there was one idea and that lead writer left and not the new guy picked up but never really liked the original plan so he went with his.

This happens in comic books at lot when writers change and this whole ending situation reeks of it.

The problem is this is the last game of the series... one that signs the legacy and its great up until the ending.

There should  be a sliding call of endings from Heroic  Victory to Heroic Sacrific to  FUBAR the Reapers win all with in the  3  path frame work.    3 paths thats 5 endings a per path .. with  1 Perfect ending and 1 Reapers Win.   17 endings.

If Star Ocean 2  PS 1 era game can do  80 endings... yes 80 endings all different in some shape or form I thnk  Bioware can make that happen.
