Revenant Marksman is awesome but I can't get headshots consistently enough at anything closer than short range to really satisfy me. And close range is not where a turian soldier wants to be.

I liked the Mattock a lot though. You fire basically as fast as you can hit the button, and it's a headshot every time.

Agreed with both points.

I played him last night a few games. My team got totally wrecked but I was enjoying machine gunning with the avenger and hornet. I guess I never realized how big of a different marksman made. I just unlocked the vindicator last night also after my last run. I will try that next.

Just ran around using the Hornet spamming Marksman. I'm getting better results than the Revenant.

Tip: don't zoom in unless in cover.

Yep.

It's kind of annoying, but the hornet makes a better Revenant than the Revenant... If only it didn't require constant tapping.

Problem with the Vindicator is it's a 3 round burst fire.  So even if you fire those 3 shots off instantly (you do) the problem is the down time between shots no matter how fast you fire.  Vindicator is still a great rifle, it weighs nothing and it's pretty damn accurate (it's my goto weapon if I need accurate ranged damage on a class that isn't a pistol) it just doesn't really take advantage of Marksman.

I'll throw in love for the proximity mine. Marksman is pretty well hashed out.

The key upgrades for prox mine are Increased Radius, and Increased Damage Taken. Catching a bunch of enemies in the blast, and then hosing them down with gunfire while they take 20% extra damage is particularly satisfying. Even better if you lay the mine ahead of time and Marksman recharges before the mine goes off.

Just don't throw the mine on stairs, because of the zig-zagging nature messes with the detection.

turian soldier is fine, but i have an issue with Revenant. like most people i expected Revenant is probably best when used with turian soldier. but when i finally unlocked and tried it, it doesnt. i have max the turian weapon stablity talent and marksman, it works poorly. other weapons like m8 is better..

The people who are going on about the M8 and other such weapons should really list the difficulty they are playing on when comparing the weapons. Every test I've done with M8, Phaeston, Tempest, etc on Gold settings with a Turian Soldier is just unbelievably terrible.

On Bronze you could go in with a wet noodle and finish all 11 rounds.

So what would be a good choice for Silver/Gold?  I really like the sound of the Revenant although have not unlocked it yet.  I'm guessing full auto is the way to go, although have noticed several people commening that guns like the Mattock work effectively with Marksman.  I've been using the Vindicator II, and although Marksman and the passive skills aren't maxed yet so far it's a little underwhelming.  I feel like I need to be able to lay down a hail of fire that requires little readjustment in terms of aim.

yeah M8 does suck on Gold because it has low damage. but Revenant is even worst. it takes like 2 seconds to kill a trooper on Silver with an M8 but 5 seconds+ with Revenant. both in close range and well aim at the head

afterall M8 is the weapon u dont need to unlock, what can u expect? and Revenant simply doesnt worth a Gold unlock

I did silver just fine, topping the score, but tried one gold and found that proximity mine's damage is not high enough (also been a while since previously I played turian, forgot the tatics of Turian mine expert), but with more trials and practice I think gold is not a problem either. I love spamming well placed ice cold proximity mine ;) Though generally I dont like characters who can't dodge, that's another topic..

Turian soldier with marksmen turns the Geth AR into a laser beam of doom. It also turns shotguns into sniper rifles. :D

Turian Soldier
Marksman (Max) - Firing Rate - Duration - Accuracy & Firing Rate
Turian Veteran (Max) - Damage & Stability - Headshots - Damage & Stability
Fitness (Max) - Durability - Shield Recharge - Fitness Expert

(Rest is your preference. I prefer Concussive but never use it. I suppose Proximity mine with increased damage might be better but I haven't needed to bother)

Weapons:
M-76 Revenant - Extended Barrel - Stability Damper
M-77 Paladin - High-Caliber Barrel - Pistol Scope

The combination of the Revenant with Marksman basically makes you into what I call the "Turian Turret" because you'll find yourself exactly like one of the turrets that Shepard can control from the single player game. Varying on weight, there's usually a 10s uptime and a 10s downtime between Marksman rampages.

Against Bronze and Silver you're going to mow down anything you run across when Marksman is active and usually even when it isn't. My first try at this (admittedly on Bronze) I went something like 75 kills well before the 11 waves were over. You can literally walk around like Rambo in most cases because you will simply overwhelm any and all opponents on Bronze/Silver with sheer firepower. On Gold setting it can be a bit more risky because of the damage you'll take so you can't just be out in the open, but the damage is still there and is still solid.

The pistol can be replaced with any slow firing weapon (such as a Carnifex) that you basically use as a light weight, precision weapon for any longer encounters. Otherwise anything up close to medium you can just whip out the Rev and bring the justice.

Probably the most amusing thing I've found with the Revenant is it's huge for earning rewards/medals. Half the time if you aim for the upper torso the spray of the bullets will net you headshots that you weren't aiming for.

+1 Try this build and love it. A nice change from sniping now I just spay bullets every where =]

It's kind of a tough question because I don't know what you have unlocked both for mods, character level, and weapon choices.  It's kind of a total picture.  For example when I am a lower level Turian Soldier I use the Stability Damper V (70% reduction) but when I max out Turian Veteran that puts me way over into negative recoil so I swap out to armor piercing.

Silvers you want a Tempest/Phaeston but if you're extremely unlucky (both drop fairly regularlly from the Veteran packs) you can still do the Avenger on Silver.  They're both basically the medium ground between the Super Fast Avenger and Slower Revenant.  I prefer the Phaeston if I had to choose, mostly because there's no armor piercing for SMGs (albiet the 45% chance not use ammo per shot on the Tempest is pretty damn hilarious).

The problem with the turian soldier, and soldiers in general, is in they rely on weapons a lot more than other classes, therefore if you don't have a nice gun with good attachments, then you are playing a gimped class.

The exception is the krogan soldier, who can rely on fists more than anything.

Thanks for the advice.  I'm sorry, I didn't realise you'd already posted a build on this thread!

For now I'll be concentrating on Silver as my Soldier is only around Level 10.  I have the Vindicator II, Avenger III, just about every shotgun in the game (and I never use any of them!) and a Mantis II.  Basically, the game hates me.  I'll keep on buying those Veteran packs and hope for something else.  In the meantime I've at least got a good build in mind.

Soldiers are like the warriors of world of warcraft; they are extremely gear dependant, and at low gear are probably bad, and with top of the line weapons they are great.

^ Gold is the only metric I ever talk about because game balance doesn't matter at other levels as much as it does at gold.

People should hold of their negative judgments until they get maxed out Turian Weapons (Falcon, Revenant, Sabre, etc).

I completely agree that the Soldier is entirely weapon based. Even having a level 1 version of a better base weapon doesn't necessarily will make it better than a level 10 of a lesser variant. It's pretty easy to max out an Avenger, Katana, Mantis with super cheap recruit packs and it's why you hear people talking about them but they just aren't effective in Gold games.

A lot of the other classes (Sentinels, Adepts, Engineers, Infiltrators) are much more skill oriented which makes them excel so early on. There were many times while leveling my Soldier the first time I was pretty disappointed compared to the combo system that other classes get. It's super easy to setup an Adept from the get go and do Singularity + Warp for massive detonation damage.

As for the Revenant and accuracy and otherwise, here's a video of me playing against the Reapers on Silver. I'm level 5 in this (recently promoted) so my character wasn't quite there yet.

Turian Soldier - Revenant

As you can see it's not entirely inaccurate as people make it out to be at longer ranges.

Holy ****! :o

You can unlock Turian soldier via Veteran packs right? I've tried, but all I've gotten so far is three Turian Sentinels, 2 Salarian Engineers, 1 Asari Vanguards, and 1 Drell Adept.

Wasn't bad on Bronze, pretty weak on Silver. 144 clip size was pretty freaking hilarious tho. The guys in my Bronze game were laughing as I laser beamed everything to death.
