Clive Barker's Jericho, that is...

Of course, they didn't kill of 2 squadmates for no reason in Mass Effe...  ooops...

Same garbage.  God-Kid, world/universe requires your sacrifice... except in Jericho you at least got to FIGHT against the dying of the light...

and then... ambiguious ending, and roll credits...

Same Effing feeling, except magnified because I had to play through 3 games to get that crappy ending instead of one.

Yes, except the entirety of Jericho was horrible. Easily one of the worst games, both gameplay and story wise that I've ever played. Unlike ME3 where only the ending is bad, which was worse, because how good the rest of the game is highlights just how bad the ending is, and makes the ending seem even worse.

I thought you meant the TV show. Which, although it didn't offer very much closure, was a pretty good ending that closed the surrent story arc. It also made logical sense in the context of its set up and preceding story elements.

At least some beloved franchises end well.

Good Point.  Although some of the concepts in Jericho were decent...  for the most part I got really sick of it, Really fast...

Near the end I was fighting myself not to just turn off the game, becuae "Hey!  Cool Ending's Coming, Right?"

ME3... well, it just hurt.  BAD.  Especially considering that there wasn't even a classic Bioware Text Box ending which would have been fine for me.  (Except that in Jade Empire there was no text box for the Threesome... MAN I wanted to see that!)

What is it with recent SF franchises and the Downer endings?  Seriously?

There's an old joke that when they start playing the national anthem and heroes start dying in fiction there's a big war coming in RL...

Last one that was even CLOSE to a decent ending IMHO was Firefly/Serenity, but of course they had to kill Wash...  Course, HE got a funeral at least...
