I am thinking of buying one of these rings (both cost 75+ sovereigns), but cannot decide between them. Which one would you choose? and Why?

Both. Seriously - save up and get both. i had alistair in juggernaut plate, with the life giver and the righ of ages. massive health with 40% resist to all makes him all but untouchable.

It's very hard for me to save up. I mean together they will cost around 160! I currently have about 110 to be used not just for a ring but also to buy the GM runes, tomes, etc.
So let me put it this way.. If you could only get one, which one would you pick?
Thanks,

Yeah, good rings are rare in this game anyways, so grab one whenever possible. After that, get the necklace and belt from the dwarves to complete your powerhouse.

I would say lifegiver, resistance is all good but +3 armor from ring and +10 constitution are great vs melee you are killing most mages first anyway so they wont get chance to cast that many spells, now if only +healing effect would work like it should there would be no challenge.

I am leaning towards the lifegiver too for the same reasons. However, like Zoe Dedweth said, the ring of ages combined with the Jaggernaut armor would be terrific too.
Oh man, usually I am quite decisive, but this one is driving me crazy, to the point that all I can think of is I will be making a mistake choosing one over the other..[sigh]

I got roughly 900 sovereigns in my last game by the endgame, ~860 or so by the end of landsmeet(I didn't really bother looting a lot after that).. If you do lots of sidequests you can get enough gold to buy both

I played a Dalish Warrior and by Landsmeet I had 305 gold and had spent around 400 gold. From the moment I got Lelianna, I had her pickpocket every NPC, before I spoke to any of them. She comes in wit 2 levels of pickpocketing. As she levels up, first concentrate on her pickpocketing skills and her chest-opening talents. You'll do well with money.
Also, obtain every backpack as soon as possible, that way you'll be able to hold more loot. Faithfully rotate and sell unneeded equipment. I was not thrifty, I bought every talent book I came across for my PC, Morrigan made tons of potions, Zethram was my potion maker, I used every arrow, but sold every bolt.

Arrows are far to valuable to actually shoot. Especially for the minor effect they grant.

Lifegiver is an awesome ring. After getting it once I have picked it up every other play through. You really notice the increased survivability once you get it.

Oh heck...here I go and add this "cheat" in here but hey, your in a quandry over which one to buy and you evidently dont know about how to get "unlimited" funds.
Before you go into Redcliffe ( hopefully, you have Wardens Keep installed), go there after you have "cleansed" it and drop off all your miscellaneous trivial stuff, so that you have plenty of room for new items.
Then on to Redcliffe...Speak with the mayor, then go to the Smithy and talk him into repairing the village weapons ( you have to Promise to find his daughter in the castle). Once you have him doing the repair work, go up the hill to the Tavern and intimidate Lloyd into joining the local Militia instead of playing hide away coward. Once you get him to go join up, the Waitress in the Tavern is now the Owner and ask her for supplies and she will give you everything there for Free.
Go out side, come back inside and ask her for supplies again and the Crystals that make up Shales offensive and defensive equipment are back on the list. Clean out the larder again and keep this scenario going till your inventory is full.
Go to the Smithy and sell him the Crystals...go back to the Tavern and do it all over again. Oh...Once Redcliffe Castle has been "cleansed" and the Arl has been healed up with the Ashes, the Free Crystals are still available because you never know when you might find another "Gotta Have It" item.

The Ring of Ages is at in Denerim in the Wonders of Thedas shop. I landed up getting the Lifegiver and equipped with Alaitair with it. Thanks all for your help!

Thanks for the info, Shiv Sena. And yes, Lifegiver is probably the best ring out there, for tanking at least.

Thanks for the advice! I was wondering the same thing. I tend to put all my rogue points into offense for both Leliana and Zevran, so saving up gold has been difficult (though easier the second time through - I'm using a LOT fewer health and lyrium potions this time around). I finally saved up 100 gold and have been trying to decide whether to buy one of the very expensive pieces of equipment or some Grandmaster runes. Rings are so scarce in Origins!

If you have Golems of Amgarrak, one of the rewards sells for 300 gold.

Lifegiver by far. But still, no reason not to get both?

Darn! I almost finished Golems of Amgarrak, but realized I'd have to respec my character to survive, and the boss fight was so boring, I quit before finishing it. Maybe it'll go better with the character I'm playing this time around, though I still didn't pick Arcane Warrior. I don't know if there's any way to win it with a non-Arcane Warrior mage.
I'm up to 125 gold at about 2/3 of the way through Origins, so I'm mulling over what to buy.

Ring of Ages + Juggernaut is great. I usually give Lifegiver to Alistair.

Give lifegiver to a heavily armoured arcane warrior and they will become near immune to death.
Only taking 3 damage each hit and regenerating back to max so fast.
so im going to do the golem mission soon - maybe as a new warden... says in the little manuel thing u start off as a warden from orlais =)
(shame it's not leliana - she's be an awesome warden)
