Now, we all hate the ending (most of us
anyway). The chances of getting a free ending DLC is slim to none.
Same with releasing a patch that fixes it. Bioware/EA has our money,
there is no reason to do it. Unless, of course we vote with our
wallets. It's cynical, but Bioware/EA is a business, they have our
money. If it's one thing that a corporation wants, it's MORE money.
Cruising the forums, there is a clear demand for a Alt ending DLC,
even if we have to pay for it. We just need to show Bioware that many
of us are willing to spend more money if we get a better ending. If
they get that message, then it is in their best interest to do so.
It's a long shot, but it may be our only hope.

Or they could use the existing ending and modify it a bit, this way it would cost them next to no money. Here is my idea:

Everything is the same up to the point where Shepard collapses trying to reach the panel as the Crucible is not firing. He is lifted up and the video sequence activating the crucible appears, no stupid decisions.
The citadel is firing in the orange version, followed by the cutscene with the  reapers on earth collapsing and the soldiers cheering. The beam is send out to the relay, its shown how it sends the beam to the next relay, the explosion of the relay itself is not shown though.
The shock waves across the galaxy make the viewers believe all reapers are being shut down everywhere.
Greyed' out pictures of our crew mates...

CREDITS!!!

And its done. It's still too short and incomplete and all, but I think a lot of people would find it more agreeable. Furthermore everything for this ending already exists.

They could bundle it in with another dlc they are releasing and charge slightly more for it. That way, they get their dlc endings we get dlc and endings (story dlcs worthless without endings). Everyone happy surely?

I honestly don't think that Bioware will sit and tell us all to take our medicine and be happy with what we got. At least I hope not. But a DLC would be their best bet to make the fans happy and save face.
